Infamous Drug Lord Joaquín ‘El Chapo’ Guzmán Captured in Mexico

Guzmán the largest drug lord worldwide capturedJaoquin Guzmán Loera was arrested in Mexico by the Mexican Navy and United States officials. Guzmán is the leader of the Sinaloa Drug Cartel. Nicknamed Shorty or El Chapo, he is believed to be the leader of a worldwide marijuana and cocaine trafficking empire worth billions of dollars.

Guzmán was arrested in Mazatlan, Mexico, which is a beach resort town, during the night. El Chapo faces drug trafficking charges, among many other charges, in Mexico and the United States. In 2001 he escaped prison in a laundry cart by bribing guards and has been sought after ever since.

Shorty’s drug empire stretches throughout the United States of America as reaches as far as Australia and Europe. His association has been heavily involved, for the last several years, in a bloody drug war which has torn through several parts of Mexico. He is known as a legendary outlaw and the world’s most elusive and powerful drug lord.

Guzmán is believed to have lived all over from Guatemala to Argentina. He has been on the run for more than a decade and during this time has transformed himself to become arguably the most powerful drug lord worldwide. Forbes magazine ranked Guzmán above the presidents of Venezuela and France and has listed him among the world’s most powerful people.
