A shopping mall in Texas opened a new sweets store on Feb. 1; the Nestle Toll House Cafe by Chip opened in the food court of the Colin Creek Mall. The cafe offers patrons Nescafe Milano coffee as well as a various array of desserts. The cafe is the second out of 18 that are ready to open under a lease that was signed by Rouse Properties, Inc, in October 2009. Venkata Kanyaboyina, a local franchiser, was so excited about the cafe that he signed a contract to open another cafe at the Town East Mall in Mesquite, Texas.
Kanyaboyina said that there are not a lot of things in life that are more enjoyable than a freshly baked, warm Nestle Toll House cookie. He continues by saying that if the smell of the cookie does not get customers then the first bite they take will. When customers pair the treat with a delicious and hot cup of premium coffee it is as if they are going on a miniature vacation. That short indulgence is what he wants to give to shoppers at the Colin Creek Mall along with their Panini sandwiches, crepes and other delicious treats.
The cafe is the second location in the country to include an enhanced kiosk, which includes digital menus that are displayed on LED screens, soft seats and an updated design that shows off Nestle’s distinctive food choices in a more attractive way. The cafe is built around Nestle; it is meant to be a place where people can come to relax, bring back their childhood memories through familiar food and dare to indulge in their exciting, newer confections that are baked throughout the day. Aside from Nestle’s well-known cookies and cookie cakes, the cafe also serves smoothies, brownies, muffins, Nescafe Milano coffee, crepes and panini sandwiches for lunch.
Ziad Dalall created the new sweets store that opened at a shopping mall in Texas; he talked to Nestle about opening a franchise that was dessert-themed. After a year and a half of agreements and negotiations had to happen before Dalal could open his first location. Dalal’s company, Crest Foods, owns the cafe and has the licenses to the Nestle food. The franchise now has over 100 locations serving over 60 million customers every year; the Nestle Cafe has locations in the United States, Kuwait, Dubai, Lebanon and Canada. Dalall plans to open locations in Saudi Arabia and Jordan.
Dalal’s most popular location was Kuwait; he said that he worried a lot about the Kuwait location because it was on an empty street. He did not want the franchise to do bad. Dalal came up with the idea after working for another dessert themed franchise: Ms. Fields. Dalal was asked to open a Ms. Fields after operating Frullati. He asked the Ms. Fields owners if he could open locations at the Dallas-Fortworth airport; the company declined, which was when he thought of Nestle. He said he knew it was the original chocolate chip cookie and he knew he could use that brand to take the company to another level.
The Colin Creek shopping mall in Texas opened a new sweets store called The Nestle Toll House Cafe by Chip. The store will serve premium coffee as well as desserts and opened the shopping mall location on Feb. 1st. Shawnon Bellah, the senior vice president of International Operations for the Nestle Toll House Cafe, said that the Collin Creek mall is an extra special location because it is one of the first cafes to open under the coalition with Rouse Properties. The cafe will hold a grand opening ceremony on Feb. 15. The cafe will open a second Texas location at the Town East Mall in Mesquite.
