Stress Reduction Techniques

Stress is an emotional and physical state of being which has been plaguing the world for as long as existence itself. Some effects of long-term cases of high stress include hair loss, lack of appetite, respiratory problems, self-image issues, depression, sexual deficiency and relationship strains. No small matter, stress has helped destroy the lives of many people in all types of society. Through the dedicated application of basic techniques and knowledge, the reduction of stress is very achievable.

Breathing Deeply

Respiratory exercises can help to calm the mind and body, reducing stress by allowing the consciousness to focus on something very basic and physical. Breathing deeply has also been associated with anxiety relief, allowing practitioners to achieve a state of zen, providing a serene environment which promotes increased self awareness and clear thinking.

Masturbation

Sexual anticipation and thoughts cause the brain to release dopamine, a chemical that promotes pleasure, while sexual interaction, either alone or with a partner, releases endorphins, opioid peptides known to impart a feeling of general well-being. Masturbation has also been linked to pain relief (helping with headaches and other body aches and pains), as well as being a powerful sleep aid. However, a reliance on masturbation as a form of stress reduction can lead to addiction and dependance, so moderation is the key to ensuring beneficial results.

Accepting and acknowledging the factors in life which cause stress is not always easy, but it is a necessary technique in order to achieve significant stress reduction. Accepting that which is uncontrollable, and learning how to cope with such instances, is known to help lower stress. Being assertive and claiming what is desired, as well as avoiding topics that are known to cause stress, are also fantastic methods of stress control.

Relaxation

Relaxation can come in many simple forms, such as reading a book, watching a movie or taking a walk. All forms of relaxation can help relive stress by reducing the weight of a workload, helping free the mind from that which weighs it down. Having fun and being active is another form of relaxation that can be seamlessly blended into most lifestyles. So long as relaxation is used as a method of stress relief, and not a means of escaping issues ( the difference not always the easiest thing to determine), it can be a powerful factor in helping to reduce stress.

Communication

Compromise and communication are the main elements of stress relief concerning relationships, which can be a major cause of stress. A healthy level of communication between partners is absolutely essential in order to maintain a stress-free environment. An often under-appreciated method of stress control is to simply communicate with a partner, detailing the causes of stress and possible solutions. Avoiding communication can lead to high stress levels and the deterioration of a relationship.

Although a completely normal (and all too often unavoidable) part of life, stress can be reduced by the application of various techniques. Knowledge and research are the keys to solving many of life’s little problems, and stress is by no means exempt from this rule.
