Final Fantasy Theatrhythm Curtain Call 3DS

Square Enix released a Final Fantasy themed rhythm game on the Nintendo 3DS in 2012 known as Theatrhythm Final Fantasy. Now, a sequel is in the works bringing with it a huge addition to songs, characters, and modes; Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call. Set to release with the game is a special Nintendo 3DS XL bundle. It has not been confirmed if this wll reach outside of Japan yet, but it sure looks nice. The goodies are endless.

This new title adds onto the basis created by its previous counterpart. New modes include Versus mode which plays out exactly as one would guess. Versus mode can be played locally or with online assistance for party vs party action. If you want to participate in this mode but can’t connect to the internet of find someone nearby you can play this mode against AI. Another new mode is Quest Medley which combines maps for a multiple song experience outside of the main story. One you complete a Quest Medley you can exchange them with others with the help of StreetPass.

Other new features include critical hits, EX burst, and Daily Feature which picks one song at random everyday that will yield bonus experience.

This title becomes available in Japan in April and will supposedly be the last in the unusual spin-off series. So far a date for North America remains to be seen. Japan received the last Theatrhythm Final Fantasy game  roughly six months before anywhere else, this could be the situation with Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call as well.

Curtain Call is said to have more than 60 characters to add to your party. Including characters added to the mobile version of Theatrhythm Final Fantasy, here is a list of some of the new confirmed characters:

  • Edge (IV)
  • Zack (VII)
  • Barrett (VII)
  • Rinoa (VIII)
  • Garnet (IX)
  • Rikku (X-2)
  • Paine (X-2)

  • Y’shtola (XIV)
  • Ramza (Tactics)
  • Benjamin (Mystic Quest)
  • Ace (Type-0)
  • Rem (Type-0)

The main draw of the game is the music obviously and Curtain Call address that by adding to the list of already spectacular tracks for a total of more than 200 songs. Fans don’t have to worry about the series dropping their favorite songs because every track in the original Theatrhythm will appear in Curtain Call. Featured are tracks from Final Fantasy games that got no attention in the first Theatrhythm game. Such games represented include:

  • Final Fantasy Tactics
  • Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children
  • Dissidia Final Fantasy
  • Crisis Core -Final Fantasy VII-
  • Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII
  • Final Fantasy Type-0
  • Final Fantasy Mystic Quest

With more than 200 songs and 60 characters the sequel brings with it new modes and options for battling against friends or AI. Currently no release date has been announced outside of Japan (which is set for spring of 2014).
