Arizona Diamondbacks ace Patrick Corbin is likely out for the season after an MRI showed a tear to a ligament in his left elbow the team announced today. Corbin will seek a second opinion before any decision is made but he is likely going to need Tommy John surgery.
If that is the case the Arizona southpaw will be out for at least the 2014 season. In a best case scenario where Corbin does not require surgery he will still miss a substantial amount of time. This is devastating news for the Diamondbacks who had hoped to contend for the National League West title this year.
The news comes less than a week before the 2013 all-star was to start the Diamondbacks season opening game in Australia against division rival Los Angeles Dodgers.
