Less than half an hour ago an earthquake measuring a magnitude of 5.1 hit La Habra. The quake was reported to have been long and sustained, and was felt for 20 seconds, a full 40 miles from its epicenter. Google public alerts has warned that aftershocks could be imminent, which are also capable of damaging property. The initial report stated a magnitude of 5.3, but the quake has been downgraded to 5.1. No severe damage has yet been reported; there were some damaged gas lines and buildings. The shake was shallow at barely a mile under ground, and not widely felt.
