Fred Phelps Might Be Gay Former Church Member Hints

Fred PhelpsFred Phelps, the gay-hating preacher who is, according to his son, on hospice care, might be gay himself.  That’s the claim hinted at by a former member of the Westboro Baptist Church. Phelps is said to be very ill and on the brink of death. Nathan Phelps, Fred Phelps’ son, went on Facebook yesterday to say his father’s condition had deteriorated and he stated that his dad is on hospice care at this time. Fred Phelps has spent many years picketing the funerals of people in the LGBT community, often carrying signs stating “God Hates Fags” and other hateful sentiments. Now, a former church member has stepped forward to the media to hint at why she questions his motives.

The former church member, Lauren Drain, spoke with popular gay magazine The Advocate and she explained that she used to observe the media questioning Phelps about his own sexuality. When questions would be posed about Phelps’ sexuality, she says, he would clam up and get very angry, but he would never deny that he was gay. He would just say he wouldn’t talk about it anymore because it was “stupid.” Drain said she did not understand why he would not just go ahead and deny that he was gay.

Former church member Drain began to question the motives and practices of the church, after which she was cast out of the congregation rather quickly. She has since become a gay rights activist and fights for marriage equality for gays. Prior to her leaving the church, she observed Phelps being questioned by the media about his sexual orientation and she also noted that in his younger years, he had planned on joining the military, but then very suddenly and without warning he abandoned those plans and decided to become a radical preacher and speak out against the gay community.

Drain says that numerous questions have been posited to Phelps about whether he had ever had a gay experience himself, and that he refused to answer any of those questions directly, preferring instead to cut off the conversation before it went any further. “His reaction to that was stronger than any other question you can ask him,” said Drain. She also says she was confused about why he would not answer the questions and why he would become so enraged. Drain’s account hints at the fact that she has serious questions about Phelps’ own sexual orientation and also hints that he might possibly be gay.

It is possible there could be something behind Drain’s questions. Researchers have been delving into evidence that supports the concept that the more homophobic a man is, the more likely he is to become sexually stimulated by gay pornography, prompting some scientists to believe that homophobia might be a sign of someone’s own repressed homosexuality. Several studies have been performed that support this view.

As Fred Phelps nears the end of his life, those who have been terrorized by his actions seem to have mixed feelings about his impending death. Some say his funeral should be picketed in retaliation for all the funerals he has picketed in his lifetime. Others say the best thing to do would be to ignore his death and funeral altogether.

Fred Phelps might be gay, hints a former member of his church. As his eventual death draws near, speculation on this man’s legacy and his own sexual orientation will continue to increase. Some say they would not be surprised if the truth comes out after he passes on.

Yep, no doubt he’s definitely gay. Why else would have been behaving like this all of his life?

So, he’s a hateful, ant-Christian nutbag, but he’s afraid to lie to the media and say he’s not gay when he is? Because he respects the media so much that he would hate to lie to them?

    Sure, that makes total sense.

Matthew 7:1…He breaks God’s law everyday as far as I’m concerned.

A man does not die when a bullet rips through his heart; a man does not die when poison stills his blood; but rather, a man dies when he is forgotten. Let there be a wall of silence around his funeral. Let him be not thought of at all. Let him be…forgotten.

I say let God judge him. He has proven that humankind does not have the capacity to judge each other in a fair manner. His behavior on Earth has been vile and heinous.
I do believe that he was acting in fear of his own sexual feelings. He was a true coward. So many people run around tilting at windmills instead of dealing with their personal issues honestly. This man has taken it to the extreme, and hurt so many. If God can forgive him, I can. But I hope God will keep a close eye on him,and not let him get away with anything! One thing I know in my heart is that he won’t rest in peace for a very long time, due to his own actions.

I’m a liberal and pro-gay rights, and can’t stand Mr. Phelps or his church, but this column has to be a new low in insinuation. The author should be ashamed.

As a straight man who has been asked that question, because women seem to think it is a perfectly acceptable thing to ask some one these days, I have had the same reply. Basically when you ask someone that it’s like you are accusing them of being a liar through and through, because any self respecting person does not hide who they are. You dont even one to deny it because you feel like it would lower you to give the question the time of day at all. If you have to ask you’re probably not close enough to deserve the answer. And if someone is on the down low and essentially living a big lie what gall must you have to think you have the power to make someone suddenly take account of themselves and admit it on the spot? Are you a sage of some kind? Unless the answer is yes it is no.

We claim that both sexes have admirable qualities yet when a woman has what are thought to be “manly” qualities we wave the feminist flag and say atta girl as we should, but when a man displays good qualities that we identify with women such as being caring we immediately call their sexuality into question essentially calling them dishonest. Sexual attraction to other men has only to do with that and either you are or you aren’t born that way.

This guy is a psycho and has the morals I’ve come to expect of a dogmatic. This being the case why fight him with speculations? He gives you so many real reasons to despise him.

My guess would be that he was molested by his father when he was a little boy and that is what brought out the hate for gays.

Going to his funeral and protesting in retaliation gives him and his evil minions more power. Trust me: ignoring the event devalues his past efforts, and lowers the value of his church’s past present and future sickening efforts.

They started long ago as they should have but once he’s dead is when they should leave it alone and move on to living antagonists. The dead don’t change their minds and keeping his ideas alive thorough debate will only allow them to propagate.
