Taiwanese firm HTC Corporation is eyeing to compete against smartphone leaders Apple and Samsung, as it gears up to launch its new phone, the ‘All New HTC One,’ which had been code named M8, on March 25 in London and New York.
HTC Corporation had earlier released a sound teaser, hinting at its name, thereby giving the idea that it might be similar to its predecessor, the HTC One, but with just a lengthier name. Keeping in mind the existing HTC One has won a lot of awards for its design and features and has been lauded by fans for the high quality finish of the handset, it may not come as much of a surprise that HTC Corporation wants to remain on safe grounds.
The photos of the handset had also been leaked earlier a dozen times. There is no mystery to the phone, as along with photos of the handset, videos of the same have been released as well. One leaked video also explains the phone’s new Sense software and reveals all its specifications.
However, once again, just before the launch – to build the anticipation, it seems – a new image of the phone sitting with Apple’s iPhone 5S, LG G2, Sony Xperia Z1 and Samsung’s Galaxy S4 and Note 3 has been leaked on the internet.
The photographer of the leaked photos claims the new HTC phone is just a dummy, but for comparison purposes with other smartphones, this photo does the trick perfectly. After all HTC Corporation is eyeing competition against Apple’s iPhones and Samsung’s Galaxy phones with its new phone, so it is interesting to see what it looks like sitting beside the other smartphones.
The All New HTC One is expected to be a metal cased, 5-inch, 1920 x 1080 display-toting phone with an enhanced 2.3GHz Snapdragon 800 processor. It is expected to have a 4.1-megapixel camera that uses the UltraPixel smarts of the original HTC One. The phone will be backed by 2GB of RAM.
It is also said to have new twin camera lenses that would support 3D shooting and effects and add depth to shots, while improving focus and image quality. The new HTC phone is also expected to arrive with HTC’s new Sense 6.0 software, at least 16GB of internal storage, a 2,600 mAh battery and Android 4.4.2 KitKat.
Fans of HTC Corporation are also eagerly waiting for the phone to hit the stands with tech blogs and websites running wild at present speculating the price of the new phone. While reports have appeared that the phone may be priced within a reasonable range of $300 to $350, there has been no official confirmation as yet.
The All New HTC One (M8) is to be an important phone for HTC Corporation, not only because it is eyeing competition with smartphone market leaders Apple and Samsung, but the firm is hoping for success of the new phone to counter the recent losses the firm has made. In the second half of 2013, HTC Corporation had posted consecutive losses in both quarters. Meanwhile, in the first quarter of 2014 also the firm is expecting net loss of $0.69 to its shares.
