John Walsh: The Face of America's Crime Stoppers

John Walsh is the face of America’s crime stoppers. He has lived the life of losing a child, recovering and restoring hope in the face of tragedy, trial and eventual triumph. He is a ray of encouragement as he has dedicated his life to fighting crime and promoting safety. A recognizable person both on television and within the confines of human woe and sadness, his spirit to carry on and strive for justice is a jolt of victory.

John Walsh: The Face of America's Crime StoppersAfter tragically losing his young son, Adam, age 6, to a kidnapper in Florida, Walsh has mended ways with the authorities and has gone on to help thousands recover in their own lives. Adam was left to play in the toy department of a local Sears store back in 1981, as his mother shopped. A seemingly safe place, he was no where to be found by his mother when she returned to the aisle on that fateful day.

Horrendous happenings took place with the young lad, as the family watched and waited for a hopeful reunion. Sadly, the gruesome tale was played out on the news channels and revealed the awful truth. Details are easy to find, but in essence the world of Walsh came to a screeching halt. All business and family life died that day and nothing was ever the same.

Walsh collected his thoughts and somehow edged into a new existence. His marriage to his sweetheart Reve, was shaky as they both clung to reconciliation and rebuilt the foundation they believed in. Embracing three more children, the quest for Adam continued to haunt their lives. Going on to explore new ventures from the once successful hotel builder was challenging. Their faith and fortitude was a staying power that made things right again.

Walsh switched gears very easily and wanted to help others deal with crimes they had experienced as they searched for answers. Signing on to be the spokesperson for the TV show America’s Most Wanted proved to be the outlet Walsh needed and was most good at. It all fell naturally as crimes across the nation were solved and people were brought to justice.

Waiting almost 30 years for his own son’s case to be solved, Walsh stayed the course and has helped find other missing children. He has become the face and voice of America seeking justice for crimes that effect the everyday person. Finally seeing his own son’s killer behind bars and die was a huge relief, as Ottis Toole confessed to Adam’s murder. The horrendous wait for the family took it’s toll, as Walsh and his wife almost divorced, but reconciled with strength and resilience.

After 25 seasons with Lifetime’s America’s Most Wanted, fugitives have been found and have been brought to justice. Missing children laws have been enacted and families have gained closure with the help of Walsh. He went on to make a very bad thing in his life a positive turn around and has been most instrumental in restoring hope as America’s face of crime stoppers.

Even after the series was cancelled, Walsh has gone on to promote many crime stopping and safety related products for groups John Walsh: The Face of America's Crime Stopperssuch as AARP. Worth almost $10 million with his income from the TV series and endorsements, Walsh is not about the money. He cares for families and justice and continues to fight for human and victims rights. He has written several books that address the subject including Tears of Rage, No Mercy and Public Enemies. Only striving for peace within this frightful world, the not quite 70 year old Walsh remains the face and voice of America crime stoppers for justice.

I have recently been the victim of a terrible crime which I have reported to Waco, Texas Crimestoppers, to no avail. I got the idea to try to help catch this criminal from your TV show. I even add more information about this criminal almost every day and nothing has been done about him. He has gotten away with stealing a lot of money from me, plus he is committing life-threatening crimes to society as I am typing this comment. This is the most ridiculous joke in “law” (?) enforcement.

“After 25 seasons with Lifetime’s America’s Most Wanted”…it was really 23 with Fox’s AMW, and the last 2 only with Lifetime after Fox (sadly) canceled the series.
