Even more mystery surrounds the Malaysia Airlines jumbo jet’s disappearance when it was announced on Tuesday to the public that numerous family members of some of the passengers who were on the flight were reported as saying to the public they have been able to successfully send cell phone calls to missing passengers cell phones. They stated they wanted the airline to start searching the GPS locations of where the mobile phone signals were coming from. It has also been revealed that the airline has begun looking for the plane along the Malacca Strait.
That region is over hundreds of miles away from where the Boeing 777 was last confirmed on radar. The Malacca Strait is situated in the middle of the west coast of Malaysia and the Sumatra Island in Indonesia. This would be the complete reverse side of Malaysia from where the jet was last known to be.
In order to have made it that far, the plane would have somehow had to have gotten clear across the entire country of Malaysia. The flight with the read-out identification letters and numbers MH370 began its trip in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Saturday. It was heading to Beijing, China when it vanished, only about an hour after its takeoff. There were just under 240 people on board and there was never a distress signal sent over the airwaves. The mystery deepens with the idea that some authorities even say that the Boeing may have tried to head back to Kuala Lumpur before completely disappearing.
Some of the passengers’ family stated that even with the disappearance, they have been ringing the cell phones and they are hearing ringing on the other ends. The calls are not going directly first to voice mails but they were not answered either. One sister of a missing passenger stated that she had gotten through reached her brother’s mobile phone Monday. She stated that if she was able to get through, then the police should be able to find the location, and so there is a possibility he might be alive. However, industry specialists have explained that just because family are hearing the phones ringing does not automatically mean that the calls are connecting at the other end. All it really does mean it that the cell phone network is in the course of looking for and finding that certain mobile phone.
Calls that are made locally can connect almost immediately, but international calls may have a ringing sound numerous times before the phone is discovered or the mobile phone system is unable to locate it and shuts down the entire call. Sadly with this, the ringing is only one part of the calling process of cell phone communication, and in a case such as this, it can be especially painful because it causes individuals to have false hopes over loved ones.
Despite the ringing cell phones, Interpol has stated they believe the vanishing jet now is not related to any type of terrorism. However, the chief of the United States CIA explained that terrorism could not be ruled out as a cause of the disappearance as of yet. There is not any theory which can be tossed out at this time stated CIA leader John Brennan from Washington, D.C.
