It is being reported that a New York grandfather shot his grandson, killed his grandson’s girlfriend and then he killed himself. The grandson and girlfriend both lived on Staten Island, stated New York authorities.
Heriberto Pagan, age 86, from Brooklyn, shot his grandson, who was acknowledged by neighbors as being Michael Feliciano, age 47, around 6:12 p.m. Friday evening just outside Feliciano’s own home on Virginia Ave. in Staten Island.
The most recent word on Feliciano was that he was critically wounded from the shooting, but that his condition has been upgraded to stable in the hospital, stated police on Saturday morning. Feliciano and his girlfriend were being evicted out of their home by Feliciano’s mother, explained police, and Pagan had somehow gotten involved in the family quarrel.
After he shot his grandson, Pagan raged inside the house and proceeded to then shoot his grandson’s girlfriend, Claritle Christina Huerta, age 28, in her head. There was an infant girl who was also present at the time of the shooting but she was left unharmed. Huerta was taken to a nearby hospital on Staten Island, but she was unable to be saved and was pronounced dead at the hospital.
A New York police detective stated that Heriberto Pagan, of Brooklyn, had indeed shot his grandson outside of a house that the grandson was renting on Friday evening before shooting the grandson’s girlfriend who was inside in the head. She was pronounced dead at the hospital later in the night.
After he had shot his two victims, Pagan took off in a red Mitsubishi and then proceeded to shoot himself in the head about a block or so away on Clifton Ave. He at first survived the injuries he had inflicted to himself, but he ended up later passing away at the Richmond Medical Center, stated police on Saturday.
The investigating is ongoing as of Saturday morning but police say a motive really is not clear as of yet. Apparently Feliciana and his mother had been arguing about the home and she was wanting him and his family to move out but if that is related to the shootings is unknown at this time. It is also unknown if Pagan was the father of Feliciana’s mother or not.
As was stated above, the couple’s infant daughter was found unharmed inside the house and she is now in the custody of the New York Administration for Children’s Services and will be until further notice.
