It seems that Oprah Winfrey has given Lindsay Lohan the kick she needed, at least for now. The 27-year-old actress told the OWN network owner that the sit-down after messing the camera crew around was something that would empower her to remain sober.
However, there are still five episodes to go on the new reality TV show Lindsay, and there is still more time for Lohan to mess up and go back to her old ways.
The reality show has offered the first interview from the Mean Girls actress since her sixth stint in rehab. The actress made it clear that she wants to remain sober and turn her life around, and Winfrey also stated that she believes Lohan wants to do that. However, there is a long road ahead.
The sit-down was not quite the telling off that many people may have expected. There was no shouting or screaming. The former talk show host simply spoken to the struggling actress and told her to “cut the bulls**t” once and for all. It is time for the actress to take control of her life and start acting like a grown up.
Lohan seemed to understand. In fact, the kick that Winfrey gave Lohan seemed to be just what she was needing. The Freaky Friday star listened and took onboard all the comments that the 60-year-old said to her. Could this really be the turnaround that so many were saying would not happen? Out of any previous interview, it definitely seems that the 27-year-old is finally understanding the error of her ways.
As the interview went on, Lohan explained just why she was finding all this so difficult. She also made it clear that she was worried it would affect her sobriety, which is at the top of her list of things to succeed in.
Winfrey focused on the actress’ current sober state with two high fives, and encouraged her to focus on that. Something that may seem like a minor success to many, is a major success for alcoholics and drug users who are trying to remain sober.
During the interview, Lohan did explain that she has been stressed but made it clear that she was proud of herself for not turning to the alcohol and drugs to cope with it. It is something that Winfrey also wanted to highlight on, as it does show that there is some sign of a turnaround for the actress.
However, the talk show host also asked whether there were temptations. Lohan remained honest and said that there was. The good news for the star is that she has her sober coach there the whole time. He can help stop her falling off the wagon, especially during the stresses of the current eight-episode reality TV show following her comeback.
There has been a lot of focus on the naysayers, but there are plenty of people supporting the 27-year-old in this sixth attempt to get and remain sober. Winfrey told Lohan it was time to focus on them, and definitely gave the actress the kick she has needed for some time.
