A pastor from Connecticut dropped dead in front of his congregation after making a public confession of infidelity. Bishop Bobby Davis, pastor of Miracle Faith World Outreach Church, was forced to confess after being publicly confronted by his family. Christine, the pastor’s wife of 50 years, urged him to come clean.
Immediately after Sunday service a family member of the Bishop requested that just the members of the congregation remain for a special word from their pastor. An elder of the church, Judy Stovall, said Davis confessed to them an affair that happened a long time ago. He wanted to come clean with his church and ask for forgiveness.
Stovall said the pastor fell out as the people cheered forgiveness. As he lay on the floor Stovall reported that she held his head. She said the congregation loved him and had no problem forgiving him; they are now hurting at the loss of their leader.
The Christian Post shared an interview with a source who requested to remain anonymous. This source said the situation could have gone much smoother had it been handled differently. Apparently the source was not present because they said their information was based on what they were told.
Allegedly the pastor confessed his infidelity to his wife before the service. His wife, in turn, decided to call a meeting so that Davis could be open and honest with his members. Neither the pastor nor his wife was present in the morning service; instead one of the elders presided over the service.
During a meeting after service the pastor’s wife told the members what her husband had done. According to the source, as his wife was talking Davis walked into the meeting unaware of what was really taking place. The pastor’s wife immediately turned to him as he walked in and said, “Tell them what you just told me.” The source believes the shock of this is what induced the pastor’s heart attack.
Davis answered his wife in front of his members by saying that she was right. Pastor Christine then pushed him to confess who he had committed adultery with and he declined by stating, “the other party is deceased so it does not really matter.” He then asked for forgiveness and wanted to get passed the ordeal.
The congregation began yelling things like, “We forgive you and we love you, pastor.” His family did not react that way, instead his confession angered them. Supposedly, one of his daughters doused him with water while one of his sons physically attacked him.
The source said, as a person who was once a member of his church, they were devastated by this entire stunt because it should have been handled privately and was instead carried out like an episode of a bad reality television show. The source said growing up as kids the expectation from their church family was if they “sinned” they should be able to confess it publicly and move on.
Davis, pastor of the well-known church in Connecticut since 1967, was immediately rushed to Bridgeport Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Davis and his wife said their church was inspired after the miraculous healing of Pastor Christine’s mother who was cured of cancer after a prayer meeting in their home. Davis said people sensed the love and presence of God in his church. They have witnessed many miracles there such as people being healed of cigarette, alcohol and drug addictions.
At that time the pastor’s wife echoed Davis’ statements by saying people want to come back because they felt cared for at their church. Pastor Christine said everyone was made to feel equal no matter what type of job or degree they had, or did not have. She said the church was a family of one body.
Davis and Christine celebrated their 50th and final wedding anniversary in June 2013.
An unfortunate turn of events have left the members of Miracle Faith World Outreach Church grief-stricken and empty at the loss of their pastor. Bishop Bobby Davis fell dead after publicly confessing an affair to his members which took place some time ago.
