Gamers will have to wait a little longer to get their hands on the highly anticipated The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Developers, CD Projekt Red, posted a status update to gamers on their Facebook page stating that The Witcher 3:Wild Hunt is being pushed back from its initial spot at the end of 2014 to February of 2015. The action role-playing game is being delayed in order to create a more complete experience.
In the letter to fans, CD Projekt Red stated that they want the third entry in the critically acclaimed and massively popular The Witcher franchise to be their crowning achievement after eleven years of creating the universe. CD Projekt Red is looking to further the role-playing genre and create a truly ambitious gaming experience. To ensure the quality that gamers expect from the franchise, CD Projekt Red concluded that they must push back the release date of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt to February 2015.
The Witcher franchise is loosely based upon Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski’s series of fantasy novels of the same name. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is rumored to conclude the story of series protagonist Old Geralt of Rivia. The upcoming role-playing game features a massive, living open world full of side quests and areas to explore. Each quest offers a plethora of choices on how a player may choose to complete it with a different outcome possible each and every time. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’s open world is thirty-five times larger than the one featured in The Witcher 2: Assassins Of Kings and 20 percent bigger than that featured in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. The vast world is said to be larger than any other in modern RPG history. Players will be able to use sailboats and ride horseback to traverse the giant world. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is said to have over a hundred total hours of gameplay time with fifty of them belonging to the main storyline alone. The combat system will be similar to that found in The Witcher 2: Assassins Of Kings, with a combination of hack ‘n slash and magic. A recent trailer suggested that dismemberment is possible and present in the upcoming title.
The game will feature the brand new REDengine 3 developed by CD Projekt Red that will allow them to create an open environment with a complex, multi-thread storyline. Like the previous entries in the franchise, players are presented with an intricate story featuring several options bearing various associated consequences. The new REDengine will grant developers CD Projekt Red even more possibilities without sacrificing the design of the virtual world. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt also features rather intelligent and realistic AI inside responsive environments and a dynamic night and day system among other franchise trademarks.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt release date may have been pushed back to 2015, but the title remains as one of the most highly anticipated video games for the new generation consoles. The action role-playing game will be available to gamers everywhere on the PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One this coming February.
