A woman has died after attempting to enlarge her breasts by injecting them with Vaseline. This deadly practice of home injections has been getting attention in the news as of late. Last year, a woman died after getting butt injections from a so-called “doctor” in a private home. People desperate to enhance their bust line or derriere have been searching for an alternative to costly hospital augmentation procedures, which can cost the patient anywhere from $3,500 to $5,000, or even more depending on the type of enhancement product used.
The injection of Vaseline that killed 39 year old Sonia Perez Llanzon was part of an increasing number life threatening, dangerous black market procedures people use to attain an altered figure. Thirty-nine-year-old Argentine athlete and mom Sonia Perez Llanzon paid a large price—her life–when she injected Vaseline into her breasts throughout a do-it-yourself medical procedure which is performed in the home. Besides those who attempt to do these procedures by themselves at home, there have also been reports of so-called “augmentation parties” in which a group of people gather and inject each other with everything from Vaseline to silicone.
Shortly after Llanzon injected the Vaseline, she began to have trouble breathing. That’s because the Vaseline had traveled into her bloodstream and eventually caused a pulmonary embolism. When she got to the hospital, medical staff found that she had multiple injuries on both breasts from the needles she had been using for the injections. At first, Llanzon would not tell the doctors what she had done, but as her health situation deteriorated, she finally admitted that she has injected herself with Vaseline.
Doctor Julio Pla Cardens, who was involved with treating Llanson, said he had never seen a similar case during the entire course of his medical career, and that the body is definitely not designed to deal with a foreign substance such as Vaseline. He pointed out other individuals who are using Vaseline in this way face an immediate grave risk to their lives as well.
The main ingredient in Vaseline is safe to use topically. Many people also use Vaseline on their faces, and to soften rough heels, elbows and knees, especially during the winter. While this topical use is safe, Vaseline should never enter the body directly, and it is especially dangerous if it comes anywhere near a person’s lungs. Oily substances in general are very dangerous for the lungs. Previously, a child had died after inhaling a very small amount of baby oil. These instances pose a very high risk for pulmonary embolism which is often fatal.
Besides using Vaseline to enhance breast size, there have been reported cased of men using it to increase the size of their penises. Doctors warn that any injection of an unnatural substance into the body is extremely dangerous and should be avoided at all costs.
A 39 year old woman, a mother and celebrated athlete, is dead after performing injections on her breasts with Vaseline in an attempt to achieve a bigger bust line. This is an extremely dangerous and deadly practice that should never be tried by anyone, say medical experts. While the cost of medical augmentation is prohibitive for some, the cost of a human life is not worth the perceived benefits.
