Backstreet Boys Only Touring Because They Need the Money?

Backstreet BoysOne former NSYNC member has recently caused a stir after stating that he believes the Backstreet Boys are only touring because they need the money. Many fans have left comments hitting out at Joey Fatone saying he is jealous because his five-piece boy band has no chance of ever getting back together.

NSYNC split up after Justin Timberlake decided it was time to go solo. Since then, Timberlake’s career has kicked off and the rest of the band members have disappeared into obscurity. That is not the case with the Backstreet Boys.

The two did have a major rivalry in the 1990s. It was the time when boy bands were big, and the two bands were very much alike. Both had five members, they had one or two main singers on their tracks, and did a lot of dancing. The difference is the Backstreet Boys grew with their audience and wanted to continue making music together.

There was a brief period where they split up. They wanted to work on their own solo careers, needed help for alcohol and drug treatment, and just wanted to spend more time with their families. But they soon got back together. At first it was as a four-piece, after Kevin Richardson decided to spend time with his family after becoming a dad for the first time. However, they are now back to being a five-piece and are still selling out at their concerts.

The idea that the Backstreet Boys are only touring because they need the money is ludicrous. The boys, now men, have their own record label and likely make plenty of money from their tracks that are still played. Tracks like Backstreet’s Back and I Want It That Way are still popular tracks for fans and even those who like to pretend they are not fans.

Fatone does not seem to realize that the boy band has continued to remain close, and offer fans what they really want. In fact, they have done a cruise for their fans for a number of years now. It seems like they have never really stopped in the 20 years that they have been together. Nor does Fatone realize that the band does have a new album out, which is the reason for the In a World Like This tour.

Nick Carter, the youngest member and recently married member of the band, took to Twitter to express his disappointment in the NSYNC member. He made it clear that Fatone has his band all wrong, and it is all about the fans. He, and likely the rest of the band, are happy with who they are and everything they do.

NSYNC will never likely get back on tour together. They did a very short reunion last year at the MTV Video Music Awards, but Timberlake has a highly successful music and acting career of his own. There is no need for him to consider getting back with his five-piece band. It is just a shame that one of the band members is so jealous that he has to knock the Backstreet Boys for their success, stating they are only touring because they need the money.

They never split though, there was a 2-year hiatus in 2002-2003 but that’s about it. Even during that time they still regularly met with each other.

Forget the feud between the boy bands. What gets me more is that this is really bad journalism.
