Eight Alarm Fire in East Boston

BostonFirefighters in East Boston are currently battling an eight alarm fire. The East Boston fire department rushed to to 85 Lexington St. at 7:23 p.m.  A 2 1/2-story house of wood went up in flames, according to a 13-year-old resident.

 The cause of the fire has not yet been determined but the young witness believes it came from a car. “They started [a] car and the flames…started in the engine. … It just…burst [into] flames,” he said.

25-year-old East Boston resident Bruce Dodge Jr. recalled seeing up to three firetrucks on the scene at 8:20 pm tonight. The fire is likely to pick up speed with winds gusting at 23mph at 8:00pm tonight.
