A young California mother, age 23, who was considered suicidal, ended up stabbing her baby, age 1, to death at a park near Livermore, California sometime on Saturday. Livermore police arrested the woman on suspicion of murder. She is now being held in the Alameda County jail without any set bail. Numerous Alameda County Sheriff’s deputies along with East Bay Regional Park District police were located in the Del Valle Regional Park where the stabbing occurred.
They reported that the mother and the baby had gone to the park by themselves. She stabbed and killed the child on Arroyo Road which is close to the Arroyo Dam and the Wente Golf Course. The 41,000 acre park is around 10 miles to the south of Livermore and about 45 miles to the east of San Francisco. It was not clear just when the stabbing occurred or what type of weapon happened to be used. The authorities stated that the park would remain open to the public and that it was safe to visit.

It also was not released if the mother had been injured. A spokesperson for the East Bay Parks Police Department was on route and is believed will talk to the public late Saturday afternoon or early evening. It is not known at the present time what caused the woman to do what she did to her child. Authorities have no motive for the brutal crime at the present time.
The main gate of the park stayed open to the general public but Arroyo Road was unnervingly quiet as any traffic to that entrance of the park was informed to turn around and go back. That particular road goes to Camp Arroyo, which is a popular summer camp area for children in the area.
