On Dancing With the Stars tonight, it’s Party Anthem Night! The songs the celebrities and their pro dance partners will dance to tonight are all party-related in one way or the other. One of the celebrities, sadly, will not be dancing beyond tonight, because he or she will be eliminated, along with his or her pro dance partner. There will be a celebrity judge tonight, as well — Redfoo, a member of LMFOA.
The cool opening dance number on Dancing With the Stars was “Party in the USA” and it was choreographed by Mandy Moore. What better way to open up tonight’s Party-themed episode than a choreographed dance number set to this Miley Cyrus hit song?
The first couple up were NeNe Leakes and Tony Dovolani. They danced the Salsa to Nelly’s “Hot in Here” and did a GREAT job getting Dancing With the Stars off to another entertaining episode. It was another night where Tony, for whatever reason or set of reasons, danced without his shirt on. The audience and judges liked the dance — here are the judges’ comments:
Carrie Ann said that it looked like NeNe’s “most comfortable dance.”
Len agreed, saying that NeNe looked as if she had “cornered the market in fun,” but he added that NeNe needed to “Work in your technique.”
Refoo compared NeNe to “an entreprenuer,” saying that she “owned that.”
Bruno simply said that NeNe sure “can turn the heat on.”
The judges gave NeNe and Tony three 8s and one 9, for a Grand Total of 33/40 possible points.
The second couple of the evening on Dancing With the Stars was Candace Cameron Bure with her pro dance partner, Mark Ballas. They performed the Cha Cha Cha to “I Love It” by Icona Pop (feat. Charli XCX). What a great song!
Carrie Ann complimented Candace, telling her that when she hits it, “it is so great.”
Len told Candace that her “leg action was terrific,” and added that she “must have worked a lot.”
Redfoo liked how expensive the costumes looked, and said “I got two words for that outfit: bling bling.”
Bruno said, for some reason, “I can see you almost stopping yourself.”
The judges gave Candace and Mark straight 8s, for a Grand Total of 32/40 points. This score puts them in jeopardy of being eliminated tonight, unless some other couple scores a still lower total.
The third couple of the evening to perform on Dancing With the Stars was James Maslow and his pro dance partner, Peta Murgatroyd. They danced the Quickstep to “You’re the One that I Want” from Grease. They were very impressive, and performed the best dance of the night so far.
Carrie Ann said that James Maslow was “such a leading man.”
Len was not quite as impressed, saying that he didn’t care much for their technique, and saying that they danced rapidly, but without much style.
Redfoo didn’t care if it was a quick dance, saying “It reminded me of two crabs in the sand.”
Bruno said that Maslow “could have been lighter on his feet.”
Despite their somewhat mixed comments, the judges gave the couple very good scores, three 9s and one 8, for a grand total of 35/40 points, the highest score of the evening so far.
Next up on the dance floor on Dancing With the Stars was Danica McKellar and her pro dance partner Val Chmerkovskiy. They danced the Cha Cha Cha to Whitney Houston’s “I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me).” They also put on a spectacular performance.
The four judges gave them scores of straight 9s, for a grand total of 36/40 points. Though this score is the highest of the evening so far, the couple is still in danger of being eliminated because of their scores last week.
The celebrity up next was Meryl Davis. She and her dance partner Maks Chmerkovskiy danced a sexy Tango to “Feel So Close” by Calvin Harris. Though the other dances of this episode of Dancing With the Stars were pretty amazing, this Tango was easily the best performance yet of this episode!
Carrie Ann said that she was “speechless” and mentioned that the pair had a special magic about them when they danced.
Len said that the dance “was full of attack, that was full of purpose.” He paid a high compliment to Meryl, saying that she was “the first star to match Maks.”
Redfoo made a comment about the dance being like ET, in other words, that it “was out of this world.”
Bruno described the dance as being “like a faceoff between two killers and you never knew who would be on top.”
For their PERFECT performance, the judges rewarded the couple with PERFECT 10s, for a grand total of 40/40 points!
After that AWESOME performance, Drew Carey and his pro dance partner, Cheryl Burke, also performed the Tango — to the song “Superfreak.” It was perhaps not the best choice of dance to follow up a perfectly-performed Tango by Meryl and Maks.
Drew came out all pimp-acting, and he definitely added some panache to the performance. As Carrie Ann put it. Drew was “the life of the party tonight.”
Len told Drew that “You gave it your all.”
Redfoo even told Drew that he was “all swagged out,” and looked like he “had the stanky pimp face.”
Bruno agreed, saying that Drew “put on a great show.”
Great show or not, the judges didn’t give Drew and Cheryl very high scores. They just gave them two 8s, one 7, and one 9, for a grand total of 32/40 points. They are another couple in danger of being eliminated tonight.
The second-to-the-last couple on Dancing With the Stars was Charlie White and Sharna Burgess. They performed the Cha Cha Cha to “Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now)” by C&C Music Factory.
Carrie Ann was impressed, saying that Charlie had “improved on your hipwork.”
Len said that they had “brilliant musicality” when they danced.
Redfoo liked that they seemed to be dancing using many dance styles, saying: ” It made me want to dance.”
Bruno told Charlie that his “style was spot on.”
They received great scores from the judges, straight 9s. That gave them a grand total of 36/40 points. That score makes them safe tonight.
The final couple to perform tonight on Dancing With the Stars was the Paralympic snowboarder Amy Purdy and her pro dance partner, Derek Hough. They danced a Jive dance to the song “Shout” by The Isley Brothers. This was one of tonight’s best dances yet, and it had a wedding theme to it.
Carrie Ann said of Amy’s performance that she “had the best kick and flicks out of anyone ever.”
Len described the dance as being “a fantastic Jive” and added “I love watching you dance.”
Redfoo told Amy that “That blew my mind.”
Bruno said he wanted — was he referring to Amy or Derek here — one of them to “Marry me, darling marry me.”
Amy and Derek got the second highest scores of the night on Dancing With the Stars, two 9s and two 10s, for a grand total of 38/40 points, making them also safe from being eliminated!
Sadly, the couple who had the lowest combined total of judges’ votes and those of the home viewers was Drew Carey and Cheryl Burke, so they will be the couple who are eliminated tonight on Dancing With the Stars!
Ricky Martin is going to be the guest judge next week, and the theme will be Latin Night. There were some AMAZING performances tonight on Dancing With the Stars — what did you think of this episode, America? Did you think it was high time that Drew and Cheryl were voted off the show, or do you think that they were great, and should have stayed, at least a while longer? Please leave your comments below!
