A shooting at a Georgia FedEx warehouse leaves one dead and six injured. The incident took place this morning at the warehouse located at 1675 Airport road, in Kennesaw, Georgia near the Cobb County Airport. According to police, the gunman is dead and one of the six injured victims is in critical condition.
Dana Pierce, spokeswoman for Cobb County Police Department, said the incident was ongoing and active but around 9 a.m. police confirmed the man suspected as being responsible for the shooting was dead. The alleged gunman was found, along with his weapon, in the Bay Area of the warehouse.
The six injured victims were taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital where at least one person is in surgery. The state of the remaining victims has not yet been identified.
A large number of authorities, including Cobb County law enforcement and Federal authorities are still at the scene. Federal officers include agents from Tobacco, Firearms, Alcohol and FBI bomb technicians.
FedEx issued a statement saying,
“FedEx is aware of the situation. Our primary concern is the safety and wellbeing of our team members, first responders and others affected. FedEx is cooperating with authorities.”
Before the gunman was found, police surrounded the building and were methodically clearing it. Authorities believe the gunman was killed by a self-inflicted wound.
