Game of Thrones has a marathon planned to help viewers usher in Season 4. Beginning on Friday, April 4 at 9:00 a.m. ET/PT, HBO2 will present all three previous seasons (10 episodes each) of the epic series played back-to-back for 60 straight hours and will feature two airings of each episode. The final airing of Season 3, episode 10, will end at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT on Sunday, April 6, just in time for the Season 4 premiere on the HBO main channel at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT.
The planned 60-hour marathon on HBO2 gives viewers an opportunity to catch up on the series when the series temporarily takes over channel for a the 60-hour marathon that allows fans old and new to binge watch the previous seasons consecutively. Additionally, HBO.com will introduce the new Game of Thrones Viewer’s Guide, which is being touted as the ultimate online companion to the series and promises to deliver exclusive content for every episode of the series. Moreover, the viewer’s guide will be available on every platform including tablet and mobile.
The Game of Thrones’ marathon planned to help viewers usher in Season 4 on HBO2 and Game of Thrones Viewer’s Guide will educate newcomers to the adventures of the dwellers of Westeros and Essos, and feature a fully integrated design that includes all-new interactive maps of Westeros and Essos–with zoom capabilities–along with character bios from every season, as well as a current “Guide to the Houses” and episodic content that can be shared via social networking, email, etc. Additionally, the new viewer’s guide also includes behind-the-scenes videos that allows viewers further access, including an “Inside the Episode” feature with series creators and executive producers, as well as cast interviews providing reactions to pivotal moments in the season’s arc, along with context from author George R.R. Martin. Moreover, there are video featurettes that allow the Game of Thrones crew to share with the audience details on how the look of the show is achieved via intricate details and video from the set, as well as glimpses into costumes, locations, props, and armor.
