The Pirates of the Caribbean star Johnny Depp has been pulled into a weird criminal case by a lawyer who intends to prove his client is delusional. The murder took place in December 2009. Johnny Depp was allegedly served subpoena papers at the opening for his latest movie Transcendence and is anticipated to appear in the criminal case concerning a woman.
In the year 2009, the driver, Nancy Lekon, allegedly deliberately crushed and killed a pedestrian woman, dragging her for more than a mile under the vehicle. Lekon, who at the time was 43 years old, and Sonia Taunauu, 25 years old, had a row over narcotics in a manufacturing zone close to a notorious drug-dealing area known as Skid Row.
Lekon was driving the limousine and left the spot but then came back and reportedly dragged Taunauu through downtown Los Angeles. Around Skid Row the killed woman was known as “China.” Police told Lekon mowed down Taunauu beneath the limo for more than a mile via Skid Row streets, even at some point driving past a police station. The officers, following the car, a battered black 1989 Cadillac limousine, attempted to take Taunauu out from under the car, but she died at the spot.
Lekon crumpled on the road and the police took her to a hospital before being booked for investigation of automobile homicide. After the arrest, the woman said police she was in a relationship with the actor Depp and she came to the area to meet up with him. The woman’s attorney now wants the actor to disavow Lekon’s claims in court, proving her insanity.
Charged with murder, Lekon will stand trial later this month. She pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity. As Johnny Depp was pulled into this criminal case, the woman’s lawyer expects the actor to be present at the trial. The critics say the subpoena is a waste of time. According to the site Starpulse, Depp can testify in writing or even over the phone for the case.
At the time of the murder, Depp was allegedly in a relationship with Vanessa Paradis, a French singer and actress, with whom he has two kids– son John Jack Christopher Depp and daughter Lily-Rose Melody Depp. Johnny Depp has been at the center of the news last week over his affair with 27-year-old fiancée Amber Heard, who is a little more than half of his age. As the Pirates of the Caribbean actor denied rumors about the beautiful actor Heard was expecting. He spurted about his thoughts for her in a latest interview with John Hiscock at The Mirror.
50-year-old Johnny Depp, from his last 14-year relationship, married only once–Lori Anne Allison, from 1983 to 1985, and engaged three times. The father of two said that he loves kids and would be happy to have a family of 100 children with his new flame. He says he would never turn down Heard the opportunity to be a mum. He also mentioned that Amber should have the opportunity to have children if she wants.
Johnny Depp might be pulled into this criminal case, but yet he has made any comments on the reports. The couple came together in 2010 on the set of the film The Rum Diary, but only confirmed their bond the year before on Christmas Eve. Depp has recently been active promoting his new sci-fi mystery thriller film Transcendence that opens on April 18.
