Meb Keflezighi Wins Boston Marathon: First American Man to Win Since 1983

Meb KeflezighiMeb Keflezighi has won the famed Boston Marathon in an unofficial time of 2:08:37, becoming the first American man to win since 1983. The 38-year-old immigrated from Eritrea in 1987.

Keflezighi’s time today in the 118th running of Boston bettered his previous best of 2:09:08, set at the U.S. Olympic Trials in 2012. His previous best finish at Boston was third, in 2006.Keflezighi attended high school in San Diego, and law school at the University of California Los Angeles.

Wilson Chebet of Kenya was second in the 26.2 mile classic race.
