Miley Cyrus is still grieving for her dog, but her mom got her a new one to help her control the grief and get back to normal. It is a sign that mothers really do know their daughters the best, as Tish knew that her Bangerz daughter was heartbroken over the recent loss.
Anyone who has lost a dog will understand the pain that the 21-year-old is going through. Dogs become family and best friends rolled into one. For some they’re children, and for others they’re like siblings or the best childhood friend. That was definitely the case for Cyrus.
Floyd has always been there for the singer, and she found it difficult to continue her tour. In fact, she even broken down on stage during the last one. While she has Mary Jane, the adopted dog from when she was still in a relationship with Liam Hemsworth, she made it clear that no dog would ever replace her “baby.” She has other dogs around, but it still felt empty in the house.
Cyrus broke the news on Twitter on April 2, stating that it was the “second worst day” of her life. At first she did not want to share the full news because it would make it real, but she did elaborate for her fans. Floyd, the Alaskan Klee Kai, has only been part of the household since 2011, so the Wrecking Ball singer was probably not expecting something to happen so soon. The first worst day would have been the first time one of her pets died, back in 2012.
However, to help control the grief, Cyrus’ mom got her a new dog. Moonie has joined the house, and the singer can’t wait for her to meet the rest of the four-legged brood. The 21-year-old did make it clear that nothing will replace Floyd, but Moonie is someone furry to lean on during the hard times.
The former Hannah Montana star wanted to share the news with her fans, as she finds support from them. The first tweet on April 2 was a way of explaining why she would not quite be herself on stage. During two concerts she broke down in tears in front of everyone. Hopefully, fans can now expect a cry-free performance, and she will be back to her twerking self. That is what people have paid to see, anyway.
Arguably, Cyrus set herself up for tears during the first performance. She decided to dedicate a song to her late pup, and sang Landslide. It was apparently a song they listened to together and will always remind her of him. Fans applauded her afterwards, despite her struggling to hold back the tears a few times.
It is hard losing someone or something close. Dogs hold a special place in people’s hearts, and Floyd definitely held one in the Wrecking Ball singer’s heart. Luckily, her mom is there to help pick up the pieces and mend that broken heart. Cyrus has now got a new dog to help control her grief, and will hopefully start to feel more like herself for her fans.
