Nick Carter,34, got married to his long-time girlfriend Lauren Kitt on Saturday, but his little brother Aaron was missing from the ceremony. The couple tied the knot at the Beachside Bacara Resort and Spa in Santa Barbara, California.
The former Backstreet Boy proposed to his fitness expert girlfriend, Kitt, in February last year on a vacation to the Florida Keys, armed with a huge seven-carat diamond ring. The pair had been dating for four years when Carter decided to pop the question. After Kitt said yes to his proposal Carter admitted that he didn’t know what to do. She told him that he was supposed to put the ring on her finger. “So I did. I was in shock” he revealed.
The couple said “I do” during a sunset ceremony at the resort. The bride stunned in an elegant, strapless wedding gown, and the groom was sleek and handsome in a custom black tuxedo. Carter and Kitt read their own personal wedding vows in front of a small group of guests that included former Backstreet Boys Howie Dorough, AJ McLean, and Brian Littrell. The touching ceremony involved tears, as most weddings do. According to a source, “Lauren held Nick’s hand and dried tears from her eyes” during the rings exchange.
Love was in the air as Carter and Kitt shared a super-long wedding kiss. “A full minute later they were still kissing. They seem crazy in love and thrilled to be married” said an eyewitness. The reception took place in a ballroom where guests ate dinner and danced the night away. Fans will get a chance to see the amazing kiss for themselves; the entire wedding was filmed for a television special.
Nick Carter surprisingly got married without his little brother Aaron in attendance. His House of Carters co-star had a prior commitment to attend the National Cherry Blossom Festival Parade in Washington, D.C. This was arranged before Nick had settled on a wedding date. Aaron had planned to catch a quick plane ride after his performance, and at least catch a few hours of the reception, but mechanical problems with the plane prevented it.
Aaron took to Twitter and Instagram to express his emotions on the missed nuptials. “Really pissed off that I missed my brothers wedding today…I hope he doesn’t hate me. I tried to get there… I’m sorry bro @Nick Carter.” Nick really can’t be too mad at Aaron for missing the ceremony. In February, Nick was supposed to walk his sister Angel down the aisle at her wedding, instead Nick was in Las Vegas having his co-ed bachelor/bachelorette party with his then fiancée Lauren. Angel, twin sister to Aaron, was married in California that day and had him walk her down the aisle instead.
The day after Nick’s wedding Howie Dorough took some time to tweet some well wishes to the happy couple. “Had a wonderful time yesterday seeing my friend Nick get married. So proud and happy for him and Lauren.”
Despite getting married without his brother Aaron, Nick Carter was obviously still on cloud nine. He tweeted that his wedding day was the happiest day of his life, and he had married his best friend and the woman of his dreams.
