Fans of One Direction are out in force, blowing up Twitter with #fetusonedirectionday. It is unclear when the term fetus started, but it generally means four years ago or older, like the pictures that are lighting up the internet. There are thousands of old pictures of the boy band, as fans wait for the video of You and I to be released. This is their newest single, and along with that the guys are nominated for three Billboard awards. Fans will be eagerly awaiting for May 18 to see if they walk away with Top Duo or Group, and Top 200. Their website is asking fans to tune in to watch the awards show. According to tweets by One Direction, the video release of You and I will be sometime today. It is quite nostalgic as you scroll through the pictures, and there are plenty for the fans that are not in their teens. There are shout outs to remembering other decades too, and statements like ‘if you remember this, then you grew up in the 90’s.’
One Directions fans propelled the boys to stardom via social media, when they first got started, so why not blow up Twitter with their rendition of throwback Thursday. They got thrown together into a group on the X Factor, the British version, which they each entered as solo singers. Their mentor on the show was Simon Cowell, whom they speak very highly of, and the advice he gave them during and after the show. After coming in third, Simon Cowell signed them to a recording contract and propelled them into international fame via tweets and Facebook. They even recorded a song written by Kelly Clarkston, which they are very proud of, and they all seemed star struck themselves when they talk about meeting her. They currently have over five million Facebook fans, and two million followers on Twitter. They had three albums released in the years 2011 through 2013 that broke records and held steady at the top of the charts. This success led to singles like What Makes You Beautiful and Story of my Life, which launched them into pop icon status. Their first three albums debuted at number one on Billboard charts, and that is a first in Billboards history. They have a combined income of over 41 million which makes them the second wealthiest set of musicians in the UK.
They will begin touring in August beginning in Toronto Canada for two shows, then on to the Unites States for a much-anticipated tour. Fans the world round are on Twitter for fetus day, and some are posting highly emotional pictures of their idols from just a few years back. (see right) The genuine emotion and adoration of these boys is streaming across the web today. So many photos, some of a personal nature to the person posting them, are delighting One Direction fans as they blow up Twitter with thousands of tweets. Take a stroll down memory lane today with #fetusonedirectionday and check out the great pictures of the band, and become part of the phenomenon dubbed fetus day.
