Casting rumors have been going around for over a year now on the upcoming Star Wars Episode VII, it has now been officially revealed. Any bets on who was really going to be cast and who wasn’t can now be cashed in, it seems for the most part the rumors were true. Fans have been excited about the new film since it was announced over a year ago when Disney bought the franchise rights from George Lucas for a whopping 4.05 billion, which also included many other properties.
Disney was quick in announcing that they were going to make a new trilogy of Star Wars film that would follow after the events of Return of the Jedi, fans from all over the world quickly started wondering not only what the plot would be, but who was going to be cast? Would it be famous A-list celebrities, new comers or was the old cast going to come back after 30-years? While fans will still be waiting for an exact plot, they can now rejoice (or hate) on the recent casting news. The first official member to join the new Star Wars franchise was director J.J. Abrams, who Disney convinced after months of negotiating to helm the series. Once Abrams was on board, he re-wrote the existing screenplay with Lawrence Kasdan, who wrote Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. Already fans became excited to see one of the original members of the old trilogy back again.
Fans can once again be glad that even more members of the original trilogy are set to return, the cast of Star Wars Episode VII has been revealed to show that all three main cast members will once again return to play their iconic roles. Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford will be in the new film, fans have waited 30-years to see these three back on the screen again and Disney has delivered. Also joining from the original cast are Peter Mayhew, Anthony Daniels and Kenny Baker.
Newcomers to the series will be the legendary Max Von Sydow and Girls star Adam Driver. Driver has been rumored to play a major role in the new film, reminiscent to that of Darth Vader. Oscar Isaac and Domhnall Gleeson also join the cast, and Andy Serkis from Lord of the Rings as well. Except for Adam Driver, it is still a mystery as to who the new cast members will play in the new Star Wars film.
Star Wars Episode VII has revealed its new cast, director J.J. Abrams has expressed how happy he is to see the old and the new sitting around for their first read through. Filming has already begun and everyone in the cast will be bringing their A-game to make the fans proud of the new film and where the trilogy is headed according to Abrams. Little by little new facts will be revealed about the new Star Wars trilogy, for now fans can be glad to not only see the originals but also a talented set of newcomers to join the franchise.
