Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are working together again in a upcoming movie written by Jolie. Jolie made her directorial debut in 2011 with the Golden Globe-nominated film In the Land of Blood and Honey. She is currently working in post-production on the film Unbroken, which is based on the Laura Hillenbrand World War II book. Pitt won an Oscar for Best Picture for 12 Years a Slave, which he helped produce. He has produced many of the films in which he has also starred, including Moneyball, Killing Them Softly and The Tree of Life, as well as many documentaries.
Jolie and Pitt met on the set of Mr. and Mrs. Smith while Pitt was married to Friends star, Jennifer Aniston. Shortly after the production wrapped, they were divorced and Pitt has been with Jolie since. Jolie was previously involved with actor/musician Billy Bob Thornton. Their relationship was a bit quirky and irreverent, and they often found themselves on the wrong side of interviews and gossip mills. She has since settled down. Pitt and Jolie have six children together, some of which they have adopted as well as birthed together. Since Jolie and Pitt are working together again, rumors are circulating that the film could possibly be a Mr. and Mrs. Smith sequel. Jolie and Pitt have avoided doing a film together since, but it is not yet known if both will star in the film, or if Pitt will star and Jolie will direct.
Angelina Jolie garnered a lot of attention in 1998 for her acting in Gia, the story of model Gia Carangi and her rise to fame before her untimely death from AIDS at 26 years old. In 1999, she received an Oscar for her performance in Girl, Interrupted, starring alongside Winona Ryder and Brittany Murphy. Pitt made his credited film debut in the blockbuster film Thelma & Louise as a handsome loner befriended by Geena Davis’ character. He has since had many acclaimed roles in films like Interview with the Vampire, 12 Monkeys and Fight Club.
Always an advocate and expressing charity in health and humanitarian issues, Angelina Jolie recently underwent the removal of her breasts in order to avoid breast cancer. Her mother succumbed to cancer a few years ago, so Jolie was predisposed to the disease and felt the preventative mastectomy would help her chances of not developing cancer. She is also considering a hysterectomy for further prevention.
Now that Angelina Jolie and Pitt are working together again, perhaps we will see many more collaborations in the future; maybe a biographical film of their own lives together in Hollywood? With the many trials they have seen and shared, it would certainly make for an interesting story on film. The many years they have spent together would surely provide the laughs, drama and excitement of a Hollywood blockbuster. If Pitt and Jolie were to write it themselves, they would certainly have the best insight into their relationship. As long as they work together as well as on their premier film, further work should be just as good.
