Ben Affleck and Matt Damon Still Friends

Affleck

Ben Affleck and Matt Damon have been friends since childhood. They have worked together on numerous projects and starred together in several films, including Dogma and Good Will Hunting. They also run two production companies together, Live Planet and Pearl Street Films. Years of friendship and collaboration between the two have benefited the artistic world, and now they are returning to finish a project that had been put on hold for nearly ten years.

The two friends have worked so closely together for so long that there were rumors for quite a while that their relationship may be more than a platonic one. Matt Damon did not deny them for a long time, and last year he finally commented on why. In an interview with Playboy he stated that he never denied the rumors “…because I was offended and didn’t want to offend my friends who were gay.” He proceeded to add a few choice words about the subject. During the interview, and even prior to it, Affeck and Damon were both married to female partners. It was only their closeness and gossip that had brought the rumors.

Interestingly, both men married in 2005. Affleck wed Jennifer Garner, and they now have three children: Violet, Samuel and Seraphina. Matt Damon wed Luciana Bozan Barroso. They have three children together: Isabella, Gia and Stella. Luciana also had one daughter prior to her union to Matt, Alexia, who was in attendance at their wedding and is very much a part of the family.

The friends share another number besides having the same wedding year, in that both Affleck and Damon have a net worth of 75 million dollars and their income is still climbing. They are not only actors and producers, but also screenwriters. It would seem that these two artists are capable of teaming up to win any game, except for perhaps a blackjack game in Las Vegas. The only reason for that would be that Affleck is now banned from the tables, at least the ones at The Hard Rock Casino. The ban came after security told Affleck that he was “too good,” and inferred that he was counting cards.

Blocked from a card table, but not from making blockbusters, Affleck and Damon are starting again on their project, which had been placed on the back burner many years ago, called Project Greenlight. It is a series that focuses on first-time filmmakers getting enough money to direct a film. The newbies will be given a veteran crew and will deal with real on-set politics and problems. They are expected to make a viable movie within a set time and budget. The series previously aired on HBO for two seasons, with a third season on Bravo, before stopping in 2004. Affleck stated that the series was “before its time”, and expects that it will now do well. The new season will also be on HBO, and will have both Affleck and Damon as executive producers.

Affleck and Damon have been friends for decades, and the work that they produce together still seems to get audience’s attention and applause. They are multi-million dollar men who still manage to maintain a friendship, their families, and what seems like not only artistic, but level, heads. The occasional mischief may find its way into their lives, but then again, they are only human and who does not have that happen from time to time?
