Billboard Music Awards Winners (Recap & Videos)
The were many memorable performances at the 2014 Billboard Music Awards show on ABC on May 18, and the list of winners included some of the hottest musical stars around. The show recognized the biggest hit songs and singers from 2013 up to today. The performers who had the most nominations were Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, Justin Timberlake, and Lorde.

Some of the highlights of the 2014 Billboard Music Awards included a mid-show Michael Jackson hologram performance of his song “Slave to the Rhythm,” and Miley Cyrus and Flaming Lips performing the classic Beatles song, “Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds.” Also, OneRepublic rocked their hit song “Counting Stars,” and Ariana Grande teamed up with Iggy Azalea to sing duets of “Problem” and “Fancy.” Besides these awesome performances, Jennifer Lopez was awarded a special Icon Award.

The 2014 Billboard Music awards were opened up with a rousing performance by Jennifer Lopez and Pitbull of “We Are One (Ole Ola).” She and Pitbull rocked out with this song, and really got the audience into it. Later on in the show, J-Lo sang “First Love.”

Justin Timberlake and Imagine Dragons were two of the night’s biggest winners. There were five albums nominated for the Billboard Music Awards Album of the Year, Lana Del Rey’s Born to Die; Fall Out Boy’s Save Rock and Roll; Imagine Dragons’ Night Visions; Lorde’s album Pure Heroine; and, Mumford and Sons’ album, Babel. The winner was Imagine Dragons’ album, Night Visions.

Justin Timberlake’s album, The 20/20 Experience, beat out a field of five albums nominated for the Top Billboard 200 Album. The other four albums were Beyonce’s album, Beyonce; Luke Bryan’s album, Crash My Party; Nothing Was The Same by Drake; and, Eminem’s release, MMLP2.

One of the other big awards of the evening was the Billboard Music Awards Top New Artist Award. The five nominees for it were Ariana Grande, Capital Cities, Bastille, Lorde, and Passenger. All of the nominees were great, but this award went to Lorde.

An award that many country music fans were interested in was the Billboard Music Awards Top Country Artist Award. The five nominees for it were Taylor Swift, Luke Bryan, Darius Rucker, Florida Georgia Line, and Blake Shelton. The award went to Luke Bryan, a heart-throb of many younger female fans of country music.

The Billboard Music Awards Top Rock Song Award had five songs that were nominated, two of them being songs by Imagine Dragons, “Radioactive,” and “Demons.” The other three songs were “Royals” by Lorde; “Safe and Sound” by Capital Cities; and “Let Her Go” by Passenger. Though Imagine dragons had two songs that were nominated, the award went to Lorde’s song, “Royals.”

Another much-anticipated award given out at the Billboard Music Awards was the one for Top Female Artist. Five female artists were nominated, Rihanna, Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry, Beyonce and Lorde. The winner of this award was Katy Perry.

The 2014 Billboard Music Awards Top R&B Song Award had five songs nominated, “Drunk In Love” by Beyonce and Jay Z; “Suit and Tie” by Justin Timberlake; “Blurred Lines” by Robin Thicke (featuring Pharrell and T.I.); “Hold On, We’re Going Home” by Drake (featuring Majid Jrodan); and, “Happy” by Pharrell Williams. The award went, somewhat surprisingly, to “Blurred Lines.”

There were so many big awards given, and yet another one was the 2014 Billboard Music Awards Top Hot 100 Song Award. The five songs up in this category were “Wrecking Ball” by Miley Cyrus; “Roar” by Katy Perry; “Radioactive” by Imagine Dragons; “Blurred Lines” by Robin Thicke (featuring Pharrell and T.I.); and, “Royals” by Lorde. This award also went to “Blurred Lines.”

There were three other Billboard Music Awards presented. One was for the Top Streaming Artist. The five nominees were Psy, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis; Miley Cyrus; Katy Perry; and. Imagine Dragons. This award went to Miley Cyrus — it was her only award of the evening.

The Billboard Music Awards Top Country Song Award saw five terrific songs nominated for the award. Two of them were songs by Luke Bryan, “That’s My Kind of Night” and “Crash My Party.” The other three songs nominated were “Boys ‘Round Here” by Blake Shelton; “Wagon Wheel” by Darius Rucker; and “Cruise” by Florida Georgia Line (Featuring Nellie). The winner of this award was “Cruise.”

The Billboard Music Awards Milestone Award had just three artists/groups nominated for it. The nominations were OneRepublic, Carrie Underwood, and Ellie Goulding. The female who won this award was Carrie Underwood.

Then, another of the biggest awards of the evening was the Billboard Music Awards Top Artist Award. The five nominations included Justin Timberlake, Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, Bruno Mars, and Imagine Dragons. These were all excellent artists, worthy of receiving the award; but, it went to Justin Timberlake.

There you have it, the nominees and winners of the 2014 Billboard Music Awards Show. The highlights included the Michael Jackson Hologram performance of “Slave to the Rhythm,” OneRepublic’s performance of “Counting Stars,” and Miley Cyrus and Flaming Lips singing “Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds,” among other artists singing other songs.     i personally think that since its the billboards awards basing on air plays and the rest, i think Miley Cyrus would have won at list three hence they were not fair
