Donaldson passed away suddenly and shockingly back on March 12 of this year while at his home in Glasgow, Scotland. His cause of death was due to a massive heart attack. He was born February 1, 1968 and was age 46. He has a wife named Carolyn, along with daughter Sarah who he often had described as the light of his life who both survive him

He was both born and raised in Glasgow, and was a self-taught musician. George was skilled on both the flute and also the guitar, and carried an enduring passion for Celtic music that had been inspired by his late father Bernard. George always spoke about one of his supreme thrills being able to performing for his dad and nearly 65,000 other fans when the Celtics opened during the 2000 season at Celtic Park in Glasgow.

Donaldson joined up with Celtic Thunder back in 2007 after trying out for the group’s producer and became invaluable in helping to establish the group’s trademark of Scottish and Irish heritage. Known in the group as the “steadfast” one, Donaldson had the distinction of being the lone Scotsman, as well as the only one who was married in the group.

The proceeds of the t-shirt campaign will go directly to Carolyn Donaldson for Sarah’s educational fund.

The street team stated that they had created the t-shirts specifically for all of George’s fans to proudly wear, in memory of their favorite Scot. They hope that fans will show support for George and for his daughter’s education. The shirts will continue to be available for order until June 1. They stated that delivery of the shirts should be about June 16. It is only a one time chance to buy one of these one of a kind shirts.

Repeating: Numerous fans of the Celtic music group Celtic Thunder have put their support into a campaign to help raise money in order to help Sarah Donaldson, the daughter of the late George Donaldson, be able to continue her musical education when she graduates from high school. She is age 13 at this time.
