Dancing With the Stars Season 18 Finale (Recap & Review)

Dancing With the Stars Season 18 Finale (Recap & Review)
On Dancing with the Stars tonight, America will finally get to see which celebrity and pro dancer will be declared the winners of Season 18, and be awarded the Mirror Ball Trophy! The show will be two hours long, and filled with surprises and guests from this season who were previously eliminated. Also, the winner of last season, Amber Riley, will be on the show, and the opening dance number was choreographed by Mandy Moore and featured all of the season’s past performers!!

Amber Riley sang her hit song, “Colorblind,” and there were guest performances by Ariana Grande singing “Problem,” Iggy Azalea performing her hit song, “Fancy,”  Cody Simpson singing his hit, “Surfboard,” and Christina Perri singing “Human.” Among the celebrities who were eliminated but who returned for the Dancing With the Stars Finale were Drew Carey and NeNe Leakes. We got to see recaps of their best performances this past season. Also, the Top Three celebrities and their pro dance partners performed one last time, in what was billed as “The 24 Hour Fusion Challenge.”

How did the celebrities do during the Finale of Dancing With the Stars?

Amy Purdy and Derek Hough were the first couple to take the dance floor on Dancing With the Stars. They danced a fusion of an Argentine Tango and Cha-cha-cha to the song “Rather Be” by Clean Bandit (featuring Jess Glynne). They did an AMAZING job, as usual, and Amy Purdy has definitely been an inspiration to many people this entire season.

Carrie Ann said of Amy Purdy that she was “uplifting.”

Len said that Amy was “a fantastic dancer.”

Bruno told Amy that her “dancing was up there with the best.” He added that her “unbreakable spirit is a lesson for us tonight.”

The judges gave the couple scores of perfect 10s, for a total of 30/30 points.

The second of the three couples to perform on Dancing With the Stars was Candace Cameron Bure and her pro dance partner, Mark Ballas. They danced a fusion Quick Step and Tango dance to the song “Sir Duke” by Stevie Wonder, and also got pretty good scores from the three judges.

Carrie Ann asked the couple “How did that feel?” Perhaps she wondered if Mark Ballas was feeling better after his injury a week ago last Sunday.

Len Goodman called Candace a “dark horse” but, of course, dark horses sometimes manage to win, so who knows what will happen?

Bruno said that the dance and Candace were “adorable” and “charming,” and said that they “have improved.”

The three judges awarded the couple with scores of straight 9s, for a total of 27/30 points.

The third couple up on the dance floor on Dancing With the Stars was Meryl Davis and Maks Chmerkovskiy. They are one of the favorites to win the Mirror Ball. Did they do great, once again, or did they blow it?

Meryl and Maks danced a combination of the Foxtrot and Cha-cha-cha to the song “Glowing” by Nikki Williams. They had one of their best performances of the season, and that’s saying a lot! Last week, Carrie Ann suggested that they get married, as they seem to be such a perfect couple.

This week, Carrie Ann said of their performance that the “best part” of Season 18 “is you two.”

Len told the couple, and the world, the big news that this season might be his “last season” as a judge, but he said he couldn’t think “of a better dance to end with.”

Bruno said to them that “the earth is moving for me and it’s moving for you.”

Meryl and Maks did so well that the judges awarded them with scores of perfect 10s, for a total of 30/30 points.

Dancing With the Stars was filled with recaps of memorable moments of the season, as well as some excellent performances by some of today’s hottest young singers. Oh, and yes, there were the final dances of the three remaining celebrities and their pro dance partners. So, who won and got to take home the Mirror Ball Trophy?

Coming in third place on Dancing With the Stars Season 18 were Candace Cameron Bure and her pro dance partner, Mark Ballas. They gave some incredible performances this past season, but didn’t quite get high enough scores to be the season winners tonight.

That left Meryl Davis and Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Amy Purdy and Derek Hough. Both of these couples earned scores of perfect 10s tonight on Dancing With the Stars. The celebrity and pro dance partner declared the winners of Dancing With the Stars Season 18 were Meryl Davis and Maks! They both looked so happy to have been announced as the winners. Maks said that the Mirror Ball Trophy was “just plastic,” but added that “it means so much.” It was the first time he and a celebrity dance partner of his had won. He said that “to do it with Meryl is a dream come true.”

That wrapped up Dancing With the Stars Season 18 — what a way to conclude the season! It’s sad that many of the celebrities who were truly gifted, like Charlie White, got eliminated earlier and didn’t make it to the Finale; but, this was still a pretty good conclusion to season 18.
