Emily Maynard is engaged for the fourth time, and the former Bachelorette star says this will be her last. Maynard plans to finally tie the knot with automotive management consultant Tyler Johnson. “I really mean it, ” she said. “I’m actually making it to the marriage part this time!”
The couple met months before Maynard filmed the eighth season of The Bachelorette. They did not start dating until after she split up with Holm, whom she chose at the end of her season. “We met at church,” the reality TV star said. “I think that’s why our relationship is so good now, because we started out as friends.”
Johnson proposed to Maynard with five diamond-studded bands Jan. 4. “He proposed to me at home and gave both Ricki and me rings,” she said. “…Ricki loves him more than she likes me!”
Before Maynard’s fourth engagement to Johnson, the Bachelorette star was engaged to NASCAR driver Ricky Hendrick. Her former fiancé died in 2004 due to a plane crash incident. She, then, got engaged to Bachelor star Brad Womack during the season 15 series finale. Their engagement ended in June 2011. Holm proposed to her during her season of The Bachelorette, but the couple called it quits in October 2012.
Since her appearance on reality TV, Maynard has kept her private life away from the media until she confirmed that her and Johnson were dating last July. Her fiancé has never watched her on The Bachelorette. “I have, yeah, but I’ve known him for a long time.” she said.
Maynard and Johnson have yet to set a wedding date, but the bride-to-be plans on marrying soon. She has also been dress shopping and cake tasting with her daughter Ricki. “It’s been fun to see her get excited about it,” Maynard said. “I don’t want to be a Bridezilla. I don’t want any gifts…. I just want everybody to come, chill, and have fun.”
The lovebirds recently bought a home in Charlotte, North Carolina together. They plan to move in during the summer, and they have started furniture shopping. The couple is also making plans to expand their family soon. “Three dogs, a cat, some fish – it’s a zoo here. I’ve got to have a baby soon!” Maynard said.
While discussing her fourth engagement on Good Morning America in January, Maynard was asked how she knew Johnson was “the one.” “He’s confident in who he is in his faith and has the kindest heart of any person I’ve ever known!” she said. “Plus, he’s a babe.”
Maynard’s fiancé also joined in on the conversation via Skype. He discussed the details of his proposal. Johnson mentioned he told both Maynard and her daughter he planned on making them breakfast. When they came down from their rooms he proposed to both of them. The couple also participated in a fan Q&A concerning the reality TV star’s fourth engagement. A fan asked how her daughter Ricki took the news of her upcoming nupitals. “She loves him and is so excited!” she explained. ” My whole family loves him!”
