‘Girl Meets World’ Premiere

Girl Meets World

Girl Meets World premiere is finally here and the Disney Channel is more than happy to welcome back Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel as they reprise their roles as Cory and Topanga in their newest show.

After announcing that the new show was in the works back in November 2012, the Disney Channel had been sliding out posters and teasers in preparation for the premiere. Disney announced on May 2, 2014 that the series will official start June 27, 2014 at 9:45 PM, and hinting on the knowledge that Savage will make his directing within the season.

Expecting to hit many of the same themes as Boy Meets World, the show will chronicle the adventures of Cory’s (Savage) and Topanga’s (Fishel) daughter Riley played by Rowan Blanchard and her Maya (Sabrina Carpenter), her “bold” best friend. In the first episode, the normally attentive Riley joins fellow students as they protest against homework at John Quincy Adams Middle School in an attempt to be more like Maya, which instantly starts to a split between daughter and father. Riley’s crush, Lucas Friar will be played by, Peyton Meyer and Farkle a fellow classmate will be played by Corey Fogelmanis.

The Girl Meets World cast will also include Cory and Topanga’s younger child, Auggie (August Maruro), as well as a host of returning favorites from Boy Meets World, including Cory’s parents, Amy (Betsy Randle) and Alan (William Russ) as well as Minkus (Lee Norris), Danny Harley (McNulty). There will also be a number of guests to grace the series such as, Jane Lynch, Cloris Leachamn, Willie Garson, Jackee Harry, Charlotte Rae, and Jazz Pianist, Herbie Hancock.

There is not a great deal being revealed about the spin-off at the moment, other than the casting of a few of the major roles, that it will be set in New York City, and that Savage will also be the history teacher at the middle school. The shows creator Michael Jacobs as well as Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel have been dropping hints all over about guest stars and cameos. Boy Meets World was one of the coming of age series for most of the tweens of the 90’s, showing teenagers everywhere that they are not the only one that goes through trial and tribulations. That things work out for the best in the end. Whether or not the new show can hold a candle to its predecessor remains to be seen, but the world will soon find out. As for now the anticipation is still worth it for fans.

Additionally, Rowan Blanchard and Sabrina Carpenter will be performing an original and remix version of the theme song, Take on the World, also premiering Tuesday, May 20.

Girl Meets World is co-created by Boy Meets World’s April Kelly and Michael Jacobs, with Jacobs executive producing. It steams from It’s a Laugh Productions and Michael Jacobs Productions.

For those who cannot wait and have access to watch Disney Channel streaming platform there will be an early premiere starting May 21, 2014. The network will also be having a Boy Meets World four-hour marathon June 15, 2014. After taking a week off, Girl Meets World will then debut in its regular time slot on Friday, July 11 at 8:30P.M.
