Gwen Stefani, Pharrell Williams, The Voice Season 7
During The Voice live rounds on Monday, May 5 it was officially announced that Gwen Stefani and Pharrell Williams will be taking the judges’ chairs for season seven, alongside Adam Levine and Blake Shelton. Social media had been buzzing with the speculation that the pair would be joining the show next year, and after Monday the Internet has not been able to get enough of The Voice, or Stefani and Pharrell.
With no signs of slowing down, the show just seems to keep growing, hosting some of the industry’s biggest stars as judges, including Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green. It was no surprise when the word started going around that the next two slated to take the judges’ seats would be Stefani and Williams.
Singer-songwriter, actress, fashion designer, and mother Gwen Stefani no doubt has a full plate, but when the 44-year-old superstar took the stage on Monday during the top eight live show of The Voice, wearing a lovely jumpsuit revealing a sexy post-baby body, everyone knew it would be a show to remember. Just two months after giving birth to her third son, Stefani graced the stage just as effortlessly as she did before becoming a wife and mother, with a remarkable figure and a new hairdo. Stefani performed her 2004 Grammy-nominated hit Hollaback Girl, which Pharrell produced and co-wrote. It just added to the moment when he joined her on the stage during the performance.
Grammy award winner Pharrell Williams performed his new single, Come Get It Bae, coming out in his signature hat, jeans, and a Mickey Mouse Sweater. He gave a typically excellent performance with another amazing new track under his belt. As usual, Williams brought the fire to the stage that fans know and love.
Gwen Stefani will be stepping in on The Voice for a pregnant Christina Aguilera, who was scheduled to return for season seven but opted out due to her pregnancy. Aguilera took to Twitter to congratulate her long-time friend on joining the cast. Pharrell, on the other hand, will be replacing Cee Lo Green, who will not be returning to The Voice. In an interview Green stated he would not be returning as he did not want to wear out his welcome.
At the start of Monday’s show Carson Daly stated that it was going to be a huge night, and once the dust settled and the smoke cleared it did not disappoint. With season six winding down, the audience was left awe-struck not only from the contestants, but also from season seven news. However, let everyone be perfectly honest, the highlight of the show was definitely Adam Levine’s platinum hair.
On a serious note, the contestants put on an amazing show, many leaving a piece of themselves out on the stage. Blake Shelton performed his single My Eyes from his new album Based on a True Story with season two contestant Gwen Sebastian. But Gwen Stefani and Pharrell Williams stole the show with their amazing performances and downright giddiness on being a part of season seven of The Voice.
