As HTC Corporation continues to ride high with the success of its latest flagship smartphone, the All New HTC One (M8), leaked photos for another addition in the handset’s family has fans working up a frenzy of excitement. According to industry insiders, a smaller and less expensive version, the HTC One Mini 2, will soon be launched into the markets. However, the exact launch date and the final price of the smartphone are still unknown. Meanwhile, according to the leaked photos, the new mini version of HTC’s most popular android phone will be available in three colors- grey, silver and gold.
Specifications of the new handset have also been revealed by the source of the photos: evleaks. Based on the leaked photos and information, the HTC One Mini 2 will have a 4.5 inches display screen with a 1280×720 pixels resolution, quad-core 1.4 GHz Qualcomm processor, 16 GB of internal storage with additional storage option via microSD, 1 GB RAM and the Android KitKat 4.4 operating system with HTC’s Sense 6.0 UI. It has also been suggested the new HTC One Mini 2 will have dual speakers similar to those that can be found on the other smartphones of the HTC One family.
Meanwhile, it appears the Duo camera will be missing from the Mini 2, a feature which is present in the larger version of the smartphone. The photograph also shows only one shooter at the rear of the handset, which can mean the Ultrapixel technology may be given the miss too by the South Korean mobile manufacturers. In rational thought, HTC Corporation can couple this technology with a second camera for better quality and more in-depth photos. But that remains to be seen.
If the leaked information is all true, the HTC One Mini 2, sometimes also referred to as the M8 Mini, would be a major upgrade from its predecessor, the HTC One Mini. The HTC One Mini had a 4.3 inch display, a Snapdragon 400 dual-core processor, a four megapixel rear camera and 1.6 megapixel front camera. It also featured the Ultrapixel technology.
Moving on, the fans of HTC have welcomed the news of the M8 Mini. Fans said this offered them an additional option to buy the phone that fits their needs and their budget. Expressing their opinions on social media, fans said the leaked photos offered promise for the handset. The general view on the M8 Mini is positive.
On the other hand, fans of rival smartphones, and technology buffs in general, questioned the need for so many versions of the same phone. The comments did not just target HTC Corporation but also questioned Samsung for the different versions of their flagship handsets. Some Twitter users said they believe that launching various versions hurts the sales of the flagship phones and therefore, it did not make sense for the mobile manufacturers to launch the latter version so close to the introduction of the main handset.
In related note, HTC Corporation is also rumored to be working on an HTC M8 Prime, a high-end version of its flagship model that will sport better specifications and will compete directly with Samsung’s prime model of the Galaxy S5. Meanwhile, HTC Corporation continues to remain quiet on all the rumors surrounding its handsets. The company has also preferred to remain quiet on the leaked photos of the HTC One Mini 2.
