Teen Mom 2 star Jenelle Evans, 22, is back in the headlines, however, this time it is not because she is up to any of her old shenanigans. This time Evans is in the spotlight for a good reason. Evans is ready to move on and say goodbye for good to her estranged husband, Courtland Rogers, 28, and she proved it when she filed for divorce from him in late April.
Evans and Rogers were married in December of 2012 in Brunswick County, North Carolina. While marriage typically marks the beginning of a happy chapter in a couple’s life, that simply was not to be the case for Evans and Rogers. The honeymoon was pretty much over long before it even got started. In fact, marital troubles began the minute they exchanged their “I Do’s.” One month after the couple tied the knot, in January 2013, Evans was not able to take anymore and was fed up with all the physical abuse she suffered at the hand of Rogers. As far as she was concerned, the marriage was over! Pregnant at the time, she filed four counts of assault on a female and an additional two counts of battery on an unborn child.
When the case went before a judge, Rogers confessed; however, he only pled guilty to one count on each charge, assault on a female and battery to an unborn child. The judge sentenced Rogers to two years of supervised probation.
According to North Carolina state law, a couple must be legally separated for at least one full year before they can file for divorce. While Evans waited for the year to pass, she wasted no time looking for another man. She started a new relationship with current boyfriend, Nathan Griffith, late in 2013. When talking about Griffith, she refers to him as the love of her life.
With her new love by her side, the months flew by and on April 23, 2014, Jenelle Evans officially filed for divorce from Courtland Rogers. Now, all she has to do is sit back and wait for the sheriff’s department to serve Rogers with the divorce papers, after which she can go to court, get the divorce finalized and get on with the rest of her life.
Evans and Griffith are expecting a baby boy together who they plan to name Kaiser. She seems to be happy and is looking forward to starting a new chapter in her life. According to sources, she said this time around she even has her mother Barbara’s approval. In fact, Evans said her mother is in support of her relationship with Griffith, the pregnancy and everything else.
Evans has spoken of getting married again. While it is not certain if she intends to make another sprint down the aisle, this time marrying new beau and baby daddy, Nathan Griffith, one thing is for sure, filing for divorce from estranged husband Courtland Rogers is definitely a step in the right direction for the troubled mother-to-be toward getting her life back together.
