Jennifer Lawrence: The New ‘It’ Girl

Jennifer LawrenceJennifer Lawrence’s face is plastered all over the news lately for her new-found status as the new “it” girl, replacing Anne Hathaway. People find Lawrence approachable. She comes across as an average woman, which is different from most other celebrities today. Her fans find her humorous, even though non-fans find Lawrence rather annoying. Many feel she faked tripping at the Oscars, as it happened two years in a row. According to Lawrence, she realizes how it could be perceived, but she admits at the 2014 Oscars she had been drinking.

One endearing thing about The Hunger Games star is she comes across as a very down-to-earth individual. Another refreshing fact is no one sees her out at the clubs partying. While she may party, she is smart about it, and keeps it low-key. The only incident recently was at an Oscars after-party, when her drinking apparently caught up with her for the night. She accidentally vomited on the steps, and it was rumored Miley Cyrus told her to get it together. Despite this incident, Jennifer Lawrence still seems to be this year’s “it” girl.

Lawrence is very aware that some find her annoying. She has admitted she is her number one critic, and when others are putting her down, she is berating herself for the same thing. She is aware not everyone loves the klutziness or the many GIF moments she tends to have on almost a daily basis. Many may find her GIF faces irritating, but at least she is keeping it clean and staying out of jail, unlike some other celebrities her age.

There are a few other aspects that quantify Lawrence as being the “it” girl. The majority of the time Lawrence is flawless in her fashion statements, especially for a girl who grew up as a tomboy, and it helps that she is still in awe of the celebrity life, including being star-struck by several other celebrities. She is also known for being a giving individual. It was reported in January 2014, while heading to dinner at Lala’s, Lawrence saw a homeless woman and asked if she would join her for dinner. Though she declined, Lawrence still gave the woman $20 and told her to eat whenever she was ready. There is not many who would actually invite someone homeless to a dinner. This helped Jennifer Lawrence rise to a new ‘it’ girl status.

Some suggest that Jennifer Lawrence is on a downward turn, and the new “it” girl this year is Lupita Nyong’o. It seems whoever snags the Oscar seems to be the “it” girl of the year. In this industry it seems, as far as women are concerned, there can only be one on top at a time. While she may not be the newest fresh face, that does not mean she is headed to the D-list. With such movies as Silver Linings Playbook, American Hustle, and The Hunger Games, she is sure to be on the A-list for a while. As long as she stays out of trouble and continues to shine as an actress, she will remain on top for years to come.

I realize that your article is an opinion peace but published opinions should be based on verified facts to be taken seriously.

You mention Lawrence’s fall at the 2014 Oscars and state that Lawrence has admitted to drinking. Lawrence tripped on a traffic cone immediately upon arrival. Thereafter she was interviewed numerous times on the red carpet and gave no sign of intoxication. There has been a report that Lawrence said during an appearance on the Seth Meyers show that she became drunk at an after party. That morphed into being drunk at the Oscars in subsequent reports. No one knows what she actually said because the episode has not yet aired.

The origin of the steak dinner and homeless woman story is mysterious since the source has never been named. It first appeared at a time when Lawrence was in Atlanta and I have never seen a verification of the story by Lawrence or her representatives.

Lawrence is philanthropic. She maintains the Jennifer Lawrence Foundation whose highest profile activities are contributing to and raising money for unique schools in Louisville, Kentucky.
