Kidnapped California Woman Found Safe Ten Years Later

A kidnapped California woman has been found safe ten years later. She was only age 15 when she disappeared from her home a decade ago but she was finally able to contact police and explain to them she was kidnapped by a man who had sexually assaulted her, forced her to marry him and have a child with her, stated California police authorities on Wednesday.

The investigators arrested Isidro Garcia, age 41, on suspicion of kidnapping for rape, performing lewd acts with a minor and also keeping someone under false imprisonment, read a police statement that was released from the Santa Ana Police Department.

Back in 2004, Garcia was dating the victim’s mother and resided with the family. The mother believed he was sexually abusing the girl, said California police but before she could turn him in, Garcia attacked the mother, then drugged the teenager and kidnapped her. He took her to a home in Compton, locking her inside a garage.

Garcia began to give the teen fake identification about her family and used both emotional and physical abuse to avert her from running off. Garcia constantly told the victim that her family had quit looking for her and that they would end up being deported if she attempted to leave. The two also ended up moving repeatedly in order to elude being discovered.

It is believed that the victim had numerous chances of escape over the decade she was held in captivity but even with the prospect of getting away, after living through years of both mental and physical cruelty, the woman felt she had absolutely no way out of her situation and stated she felt completely hopeless and helpless. She felt she had no choice but to live her life with Garcia even if it was under constant mental and physical torment.

California police detectives explained that Garcia forced her into getting married in 2007 and the victim ended up giving birth to Garcia’s child in 2012. The kidnapper had gotten the two of them jobs together on a nighttime cleaning crew service so he was able to keep an eye on her at all times.

The unnamed teen who is now a woman of 25 and located in Santa Ana, decided to approach the police after she discovered her sister on Facebook. Finally she was brave enough to go to police and quickly went and explained her entire story to investigators.

However it was not clear at the present time if Garcia, who had not yet been legally charged, had a lawyer representing him. The appalling case has been given to the Orange County district attorney’s office for deliberation.

Repeating: a Santa Ana, California woman who was only age 15 when she disappeared from her home ten years ago was able to contact police and explain to them she was kidnapped by a man who had sexually assaulted her, forced her to marry him and had a child with her, stated California police authorities on Wednesday. Now she and her young child are safe with her family.
