It is being reported that Paul McCartney has been hospitalized after he came down with a viral infection. The prior Beatle was admitted into a hospital located in Tokyo after his condition took a turn for the worse confirmed his publicist Stuart Bell to the media.
The publicist stated that since Mr. McCartney had contracted the virus sometime last week, it has led to the postponement of several tour dates. Paul ended up receiving medical treatment at the Tokyo hospital and he is expected to make a full recovery but has been told to take several days off for some much needed rest. Paul has been tremendously touched by all the well wishes and messages he has gotten from his fans all around the world.
On Thursday, a media article that was printed by a newspaper based out of Japan, known as Sankei Sports, was reporting that McCartney had been placed in the hospital one day this past week. A translation of the article stated that Paul was suffering from vomiting and diarrhea along with other disorders blamed on his infection but also declared that the icon of the rock world was getting his good health back and it looked like he was going to be fine. The newspaper is best known by the nickname Sanspo, and usually covers only sports. However it has written numerous articles about Mr. McCartney coming to Japan.
The rock mega-star, age 71, ended up canceling his complete tour of Japan due to the illness. A statement that was put up on McCartney’s official website stated that he had been directed to give up the shows and that his physicians ordered him on total rest for several days.
A concert for May 28 in South Korea has also been put off for the time being, but the dates for the United States portion of his “Out There” world tour are scheduled to resume next month on June 14 in Lubbock, Texas and they are still set to occur at the present time.
Mr. McCartney had a message put up on his website in response to his many fans in which he thanked everyone for all the kind posts they had sent to him. He stated that he wanted to thank all of his Japanese fans for their understanding, love, and support. He said how he was extremely touched and added that unfortunately his condition had not improved overnight like he had hoped it would. He had been really hoping he would be be better. McCartney explained how disappointed and sorry he was to be letting all his fans down. He ended it by writing he hoped to be able to see them all again really soon and signed off with, “Love, Paul”.
