Sons of Anarchy has announced cast additions for the upcoming seventh and final season. Two actors who have been added to the show’s cast roster include rocker Marilyn Manson and X-Files actress Annabeth Gish. According to reports, Gish will play the role of Althea Jarry, who is the new sheriff of Charming and will be giving Katey Sagal’s Gemma Morrow a run for her money, as well as her possible comeuppance. Meanwhile, Manson has been cast in the recurring role of Ron Tully, who is a white supremacist prison big shot whom Jax Teller, who is the SAMCRO Club President, uses to expand his power base.
Manson released a statement via the FX network describing his excitement over joining the Kurt Sutter drama and the family connection involved in the Sons of Anarchy experience. Turns out, both the rocker and his father are long time fans of the show, and they could definitely relate to the family dynamics and underlying themes involved. According to details released thus far, Manson’s character is scheduled to appear in the Season 7 premiere.
The Sons of Anarchy cast additions for the upcoming final season will also include Gish’s Sheriff Jarry, who will be calling on her years of experience in Stockton’s Organized Crime Unit to help solve the brutal murders that have been occurring in Charming, namely the killings of Sheriff Eli Roosevelt (Rockmond Dunbar) and Tara Knowles (Maggie Siff) in the Season 6 finale. The Bridge’s actress’ arrival in Charming could prove to be the ultimate downfall of Gemma Morrow, who killed her own daughter-in-law in a murderous rage. Moreover, reports suggest the sheriff will be working alongside the SAMCRO bikers to “keep the peace” and will also have the club’s cooperation in solving Tara’s (Jax’s wife) savage slaying. Unbeknownst to the motorcycle club, the brotherhood will also have to abide by the sheriff’s rules, which might come as a surprise to the rebellious group.
In addition to Manson and Gish, other previously announced final season cast additions have included CCH Pounder as DA Tyne Patterson and Kim Dickens as Colette Jane, who will appear in the seventh season only in a limited capacity, in commitments ranging from two to four episodes each. Meanwhile, The Sopranos‘ Drea de Matteo, who portrays Jax’s ex-wife and biological mother of his elder son, Wendy Case, was promoted to a series regular for the final season. While Jimmy Smits, who portrays Nero Padilla, and Peter Weller, who plays Charles Barosky, will also return as regulars along with original stars Katey Sagal and Charlie Hunnam (Jax Teller).
While Sons of Anarchy cast additions for the final season will include Gish’s Sheriff Jarry, she will not appear in the Season 7 premiere. This is because the in-demand actress will be pulling double duty on her other highly acclaimed FX drama, The Bridge, which is also returning for its second season this fall. Gish portrays the ambitious widow and femme fatale, Charlotte Millwright, on the crime-based psychological drama. Viewers are anxiously awaiting the outcome of this much-loved drama series and whether or not justice is rendered for all the crimes committed. Kurt Sutter, the series creator and executive producer, announced via Twitter that filming had commenced on the final season of Sons of Anarchy earlier this week. The upcoming seventh and final season of the drama series is scheduled to begin in September 2014, only on FX network.
