On ABC’S show The Bachelorette, Andi Dorfman may have had regrets with her previous elimination process. Audiences all over the world tuned in to Monday’s Bachelorette episode were shocked to learn that Eric Hill, a former competitor in the show, was killed in a tragic paragliding accident last April. The show was dedicated to the former competitor in its last respects. Eric was previously dismissed from the show earlier in the season.
Eric Hill loved to travel and he planned to travel the world before settling down says Mailonline.com. He had finally mastered the feat of winning a one-on- one date with the hopeful bachelorette weeks prior to the tragic event. He was very excited about building their first sand home on the beach during their romantic date. The date turned into a short helicopter ride after a visit to the ski slopes of Bear Mountain. The two seemed to be a perfect match.
According to dailymail.com, Eric Hill died at the age of 31 on April 23, 2014. Just before Hill was dismissed from the show, Hill and Andi exchanged a few heated words. ABCNews.com says Hill relayed to Dorfman that she was different when the cameras were rolling. Andi was highly offended by his comment. She eliminated him abruptly, sending him home the very same night. Little did the bachelorette know, that departure would end in tragedy.
Then, Andi cried to the other contestants relating to them that if they felt they couldn’t be completely honest, they could hit the door and never come back. Eric’s death occurred during the filming of the show. Producers decided not to edit out of the final cut. The season was dedicated to him and was considered a bittersweet reminder of a special man who had the opportunity to touch Andi Dorfman’s heart.
Andi referred to Eric as the ‘Renaissance Man’ as he shared with her all of his stories about his fantastical adventures in other countries. He also shared that his biggest goal in life was to have a family. The show shared its sympathy with the world in their bereavement of Eric Hill. In the history of all Bachelorette seasons, nothing this tragic has ever occurred. This will be an event remembered for a long time for not only the show but ABC as well.
During the air of the show on Monday, the show cut to a sit down talk with the Bachelorette and host Chris Harrison about how the tragic death of Eric affected her and the rest of the “Bachelorette” party. “To be honest, the way Eric left and my last conversation with him is not ideally the last conversation that I would want to have with somebody.” Says Andi. CBSNews.com also reveals that she seems to be dealing with a deal of regret. “I can’t have that last conversation with him during the “Men Tell All”. “I can say I feel like I had the last conversation with him, he’d probably say something, then I’d laugh.”
