The past few months have been filled with nothing but drama for Beyoncé and Jay Z. First, there was the elevator fight between Jay Z and Solange. Next came Kanye West and Kim Kardashian’s wedding, which the couple skipped. Then came the cheating rumors. However, during the opening night of Jay Z and Beyoncé’s On The Run tour, the couple was able to put all of that cheating drama behind them.
The power couple started their On The Run tour in Miami last night. The show was meant to wow fans and hopefully give them something else to talk about instead of the drama that has plagued the couple. Beyoncé wore several different sexy, figure-hugging costumes and danced for two hours with backup dancers and Jay Z.
Jay Z and Beyoncé wanted fans to remember how in love they are, so the couple also shared some private home videos while they sang. The couple showed footage of their 2008 wedding, with Jay Z in a tux and Beyoncé in a white wedding dress and veil. There was also footage of the couple getting their “IV” tattoos on their wedding fingers before the ceremony.
Even Blue Ivy, who is normally only shown in photos from the back, was also featured in the videos. There were pictures of Beyoncé holding Blue Ivy in the pool, walking holding hands, and also Blue Ivy with Jay Z. When the baby was shown on screen, the couple faced it together and sang Halo. The two were smiling as they watched their daughter on the screen.
Jay Z told fans at one point during the night that they were celebrating love tonight. Fans said, after the show, that they could feel the love between the couple, and the chemistry was obvious.
This is exactly what the power couple needed after the week they’ve had. There were reports that Jay Z had cheated on Beyoncé—again—this time with singer Mya. In a perfectly executed publicity plan, Beyoncé and Jay Z put the cheating rumors behind them, and gave their fans something else to talk about, their On The Run tour.
However, the night was not without its problems. Some reviews have called the show awkward at times and described the staging as “unspectacular.” When Jay Z was on stage, he had no production behind him, so there was not enough happening. Transitions were also awkward for the fans because there were not enough big screens to see what was happening on stage. However, the set list was criticized the hardest, with reviews stating that Beyoncé’s contribution was simply not enough. The singer was accused of simply recycling her Mrs. Carter Show.
The On The Run tour will be in 16 different cities, and hopefully by the end of it, the rumors of Jay Z allegedly cheated on Beyoncé will be a thing of the past. After seeing the private wedding footage of Beyoncé and Jay Z, people might also even forget about Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s over the top wedding.
