‘Game of Thrones’ Author Shares Hints for ‘Winds of Winter’

Game of Thrones

Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin has shared hints of what readers can expected from Winds of Winter. However, he has not given too much away, and the hints are likely things people would have already have guessed. He simply says there will be “more weddings” and “more deaths.” The question is whether the deaths and weddings will happen at the same time, as has been the case before.

Fans have been waiting for book six of seven for the last three years. Judging by the length of time the author usually takes to finish his books, there could be another three year wait. It took him six years to finish book five after releasing book four, and five years to finish two, three and four after each of their predecessors. During that time, he does write prequels, which helps to keep people going.

The problem is that the hit HBO series Game of Thrones, which is an adaptation of the books, is quickly catching up. It takes a year to film everything for a season, and the show runners have just finished airing season four. Up until now, the first three books have been covered, with some parts of book four being used. There are in reality just two more seasons left from the books, which run in parallel with each other. That gives Martin just two years to finish the book so the writers can create a script and get filming.

Since it is taking so long and since so many more people have started reading the books due to the TV show, the Game of Thrones author has shared some hints for book six, Winds of Winter. Among the deaths and marriages will be betrayals. There is also something happening up at The Wall, which fans will likely be happy to hear. Maybe this will be something more to do with the Whitewalkers.

The author says that the Dothraki will play a role too, but has not shared details about that. It will be interesting to see Daenerys back on the full journey across to Westeros and using her full army to her benefit.

One of the biggest spoilers the author shared was that Tyrion Lannister and Daenerys Targareyn will finally meet. It has been a long awaited for meeting, but anything could happen right now. All that is known is the two want to return home.

However, there is still not hint at a release date. There is no idea on how far Martin is even into the latest novel that started with Game of Thrones. It is possible that very little of the hints have been written down yet, as the author has had the full storyline planned out this whole time. He already knows exactly how it will end, including who will end up on the Iron Throne and how the situation at The Wall will end up.

Martin likes to keep everyone on the edge of their seats as they try to guess what he has planned next. While the Game of Thrones author has shared some hints for Winds of Winter, he has not given too much away and left readers just wanting more.

You know guys what? All these are cool but I think that…(I’ve read the books) Martin is playing us all and since he already knows the ending he closer to end The Winds Of Winter than we think and he says he is slow so he can start the last book earlier or even find more story to add … So the option of TWOW being published later than the show is outta the question

The article is wrong tht each book has taken 5 years from it’s predecessor:
    Game of Thrones – 1996
    Clash of Kings – 1998
    Storm of Swords – 2000
    A Feast For Crows – 2005
    A Dance with Dragons – 2011

Doesn’t take a lot of research to get it right. No more excuses George. You wrote the best 2 books of the series in only 2 years.

Quite literally, literally the quicker, the better personified.

It appears invertible that the TV series will overtake the books. Though he as given the TV producer an ending to the series ( Incase something happens to him). I would bet my left nut that if the TV series does catch up, take over and finish. The ending to the books will be different. He would have no other choice.

Why anyone thinks the next 2 books will be done in 2 seasons astounds me. The books are Huge. They will easily get 4 seasons out of them and then another 2 or 3 out of winds of winter. That fives him 5 or 6 years to finish writing. That will be a push for him and we will probably see and hear less and less of him.

You clearly haven’t read the books. Books 4 and 5 will be only ONE season TOGETHER. Yes, even less than 2. Some reasons as of why that is:

      – Huge amounts of filler material, long travels. Nobody wants to see Daenerys in Meereen for another 4 seasons for example.
-Many new characters are introduced. So many that most of them will have to be cut, or we will only get one dany and one Bran scene per season (if they would dop two or three seasons.
      – There are just enough climax moments in the two books together for ONE season
      – Bran and Sansa’s storylines are sped up. They are already in book 5 as we speak.

Taking my time with book 5, savoring every last bit. As Tom Petty sings, “The waiting is the hardest part.”

he can drop as many hints as he wants..the show is going to give everything away soon anyway and thats terrible and sad but true.i always forgave the slow writing but selling the rights before he was anwhere near the end and knowing how slow he writes was selling out, trust me he didnt need the money and even with all the hype about the show and all the money hes making he will always regret doing so.
