To this day J.K. Rowling continues to have her Harry Potter franchise extended. Perhaps not a single person can say they have not read at least one book from the Harry Potter series. Harry Potter not only touched the hearts of readers everywhere, but actually made both children and adults alike genuinely fond of reading. When the series came to a close it seemed as though a swarm of dementors had taken over, casting a wave of sadness over the world. But the aurors arrived just in the nick of time and brought happiness back to all, happiness in the form of a theme park.
The end of the beloved Harry Potter series brought tears to the eyes of readers all over the world, desperate for the magic to continue. Although J.K. Rowling unfortunately did not write any additional books for the series as hoped, to the delight of the fans the magic did go on. In fact it went to Orlando, Florida. The opening of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter was conceivably the greatest money-making idea since the invention of the iPhone. No longer was it necessary for fans to fantasize about the amazing world they had turned page after page reading about. Finally, the magic came to life on June 18, 2010.
The theme park featured all of the magical shops Harry and his friends would discuss in delicious details as well as rides portraying many of the adventures Harry embarked on. Visitors of the park could grab an ice-cold butterbeer along the streets of Hogsmeade and make their way over to eat some Cornish pasties. Kids could find themselves in Ollivander’s wand shop picking out their dueling device or being fit for some fresh robes. While this all seems amazing and a Harry Potter lover’s dream come true, J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter franchise did not end there, the magic continues.
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is expected to re-open its park this summer to feature the all new Diagon Alley and Gringotts Bank. Fans can look forward to an exciting new indoor roller coaster that zooms through the Gringotts Bank alongside Harry and his pals. The new Diagon Alley is set in a replica of the London scene fans are used to seeing in the movies, triple-decker and all. While it seemed as though it could not get better, a wand is waved and brand new attractions are ready to go.
Parents should prepare to take their kids again because the upgrade is worth the trip and any child or true fan will be begging to be there once the park re-opens. Experiencing Harry Potter World is as though stepping into the books directly, and that is an experience every fan should have. While every fan should go, it is still not clear when that can happen. The anticipation is killing everyone. Universal has yet to release an opening date for the new park. Some believe this to be an intentional way to downsize the crowd on opening day as a result of the original opening’s massive crowds and mile long lines.
Regardless of when it opens, one thing is not kept in the dark. J.K. Rowling’s incomparable writing style and her ability to draw the reader in to a whole new world is what makes the legacy of Harry Potter able to go on. Unlike other fictional series, the characters and the dilemmas are not just magical ones but problems all adults and children can relate to. J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter franchise continues and like Harry himself, the legacy will be hard to defeat and impossible to top.
