Mom Charged After Intentionally Ejecting Toddler From Moving Car

Mom Charged After Intentionally Ejecting Toddler From Moving CarA Louisiana mother is facing charges of attempted murder after intentionally ejecting her 20-month-old daughter from a moving car. Lasasha Allen sat her toddler on the front passenger seat, without a seatbelt, and threw open the car door as she sped around at curve at 45 miles per hour ejecting the child from the car. The toddler was flown to a hospital in Shreveport, Louisiana and treated for multiple injuries such as a fractured skull and several broken bones.

According to Franklin Parish Sheriff Kevin Cobb, Lasasha was trying to get the attention of the child’s father. Seeking a reaction she texted her baby’s father the night prior and told him the little girl had fallen out of a car window. The next morning after telling the lie Lasasha decided she needed to do something to substantiate her story so she staged the accident.

Lasasha’s 7-year-old daughter was also a passenger in the car when her sister was flung out of the open door. Authorities were alerted after she took her severely injured daughter to a hospital emergency room. Initially the mother told investigators different accounts of the incident, but later admitted to intentionally causing her daughter to be ejected from the moving car.

Cobb said the child’s mother thought her daughter would only receive minor injuries when she sped around the curve. She only wanted to injure the child enough to gain the attention she was seeking so she could prove to the toddler’s father that she was not lying. Law enforcement finally determined that this was more than an accident. This was an intentional act.

It was a horrible act on her part, beyond explanation. I hope the district attorney sees this case for what it is and justice moves quickly. All we can do at this point is pray for this child and her siblings through this ordeal.

The toddler’s 23-year-old mother was arrested Sunday, June 22nd on charges of second-degree attempted murder. Mom Charged After Intentionally Ejecting Daughter From Moving CarShe is in the Franklin Parish Detention Center being held on a $750,000 bond while her daughter remains in the hospital. Lasasha’s other four children have been taken into state custody by Child Protective Services.

The Franklin Parish Sheriff’s Department was dispatched around 1:30 on Sunday morning to the Franklin Medical Center in Winnsboro. They were called to the emergency room when staff noticed the child was suffering from injuries reported “severe in nature.” The toddler was airlifted to a Shreveport medical facility for treatment. Following surgery she is listed in stable condition.

Child abuse comes in many forms and is far too often the result of parents using their child as a pawn. This sort of behavior is retaliatory and extremely damaging to children. The immature behavior of this mother not only affected the toddler but her other children as well.
