Sarah Jessica Parker is returning to TV with a hot new series called Busted. The Sex and the City star is joining forces with the producers of True Detective and returning to TV with this promising new series.
The new television series is going to be the first for Sydney Kimmel Entertainment (SKE). Anonymous Content, the producers of the hit series True Detective, is teaming up with SKE on the project. SKE released a statement saying how excited the company was to have such a well written story for their very first project.
The pilot is to be written by Don Ross and directed and produced by David Frankel. “Sarah Jessica’s coming aboard,” SKE announced, “along with David Frankel and Don Roos is simply a perfect combination that we couldn’t be happier about. Once the rest of the cast is selected, SKE and Anonymous Content will begin the task of shopping around the series to various networks.
The series is going to be based on the book by Barbara Laker and Wendy Ruderman, Busted: A Tale of Corruption and Betrayal in the City of Brotherly Love. Parker will be telling the story of one of the authors/reporters, Ruderman and Laker, who discovered a police scandal and then try to uncover the story. The book is based in Philadelphia and was published in March by Harper Collins.
The true story began in 2009 when Ruderman and Laker rips open one of the biggest story of police corruption in Philadelphia’s history. The book began as a series of articles that ended up getting Laker and Ruderman a Pulitzer Prize for investigative reporting. The articles, titled Tainted Justice, were published over a period of ten months in the Philadelphia News.
True Detective is coming back with a season two where it is said that three females will lead the cast. With Sarah Jessica Parker getting Busted, certainly means that she will not be one of the leads for season two of True Detectives. Having the actress on television again as a reporter about to crack open the biggest scandal to hit the Philadelphia police department, have fans very excited. Many fans have had Sarah Jessica Parker cravings and now their appetite will soon be quelled.
With Sarah Jessica Parker getting this new series, Busted will be Parker’s first return to television since 2004. It was then when HBO aired its final episode of the smash hit Sex and the City. Though the series spawned to movie deals, Parker has been kept busy with her personal life. Not to mention taking time to star in other films like I Don’t Know How She Does It and The Family Stone.
Parker married actor, Matthew Broderick in 1997. Broderick, best known for his work in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, and Parker have 3 children together; Marion Loretta Elwell, Tabitha Hodge and James Wilkie.
Getting Busted and returning to television, Sarah Jessica Parker has already pleased her fans with the news. Parker will be portraying one of the main characters in the series. No news yet of the other cast but the series is to be aired in one hour episodes.
