Fans cannot wait any longer for one of Broadway’s biggest nights of the year, The Tony Awards! It will be held this Sunday, June 8 at the Radio City Music Hall in Manhattan, New York, at 8pm EST. Fans are excited to see what the Awards have in store for this great night. Many are excited to interact through social media and some are even trying to attend the ceremony for the total Tony Awards experience.
Nominations for the Tony Awards were held in April. One of the biggest winners was the musical A Gentleman’s Guide that took home 10 nominations, within those were Best Musical, Best Original Score, Best Orchestration and many others. The Tony’s will be hosted by award winner, Hugh Jackman. He holds a special Tony for raising nearly $2 million for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS during his 2011 sold-out show Hugh Jackman: Back on Broadway. Jackman is just as excited as the Award fans for Broadway’s big night. He has been tweeting pictures and even released a promo video that shows him bouncing around from the moment he gets out of bed throughout his whole day. The reason for his bouncing will be revealed at the ceremony.
Another main part of the show will be Barrett Foa from NCIS: LA, who is the social media reporter for this event. His main role is to interact with the awards’ fans through social media as he tries to complete many challenges throughout the ceremony. Foa wants viewers to be more interactive this year by tweeting any challenges they would like him to complete. Foa’s reporting will be live on his Twitter account and on the CBS official website.
The Tony Awards will also offer fans and visitors the Second Screen experience; which will have synchronized content that will be shown online while the ceremony is broadcasted live on TV. The Experience will feature what goes on behind the scenes through pictures, videos and social media highlights. One of the main features will be a webcast that will broadcast live video of the winners after they are awarded with their prized Tonys.
A more up close and personal experience will be given to one lucky fan thanks to Nexxus Salon Hair Care, which will host an event broadcasting the awards live from Times Square. Seating at this event is free, and it will provide fans with the total Broadway experience. The winner will have the chance to get all dolled up and attend the Awards show while receiving VIP treatment just like a Broadway star. Participants planning to attend the Nexxus contest must arrive between 3pm and 4:30pm all dressed-up for the occasion, ready to have their photo taken. The winner of this amazing experience will be announced by 5pm, and the rest of the contestants will receive a free sample of Nexxus products. Throughout the broadcast of the awards, there will be many surprise performances by Broadway stars along with games and other fan interactions.
