Tracy Morgan: condition Upgraded to Fair by Hospital

Tracy Morgan is improving on a daily basis, and has had his condition “upgraded to fair,” according his rep, Lewis Kay, relating the good news to E! News on Monday. His Mercedes limo bus was crashed into by the driver of a Walmart truck, Kevin Roper, on June 7, and he was airlifted to the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, N.J., in critical condition. One of his friends, fellow comedian James “Jimmy Mack” McNair, died in the accident, and three others were injured.

Tracy Morgan’s rep also mentioned that famous witty “personality” is also “starting to come back,” and the rep added that the condition of Morgan’s assistant, Jeff Millea, who was also injured seriously in the crash, “has been upgraded to fair.” Two others in the limo bus who were injured were comedians Harris Stanton and Ardie Fuqua. Fuqua, according to a hospital spokesperson, remains in critical condition.

The wreck, allegedly caused Kevin Roper not having slept in over 24 hours, resulted in multiple injuries to Tracy Morgan, 45, including a broken nose, fractured ribs, and a broken femur, which the 30 Rock and Saturday Night Live alum had to have surgery on. There were persistent rumors that Tracy Morgan had to have his injured leg amputated, but it turned out that the rumors were totally false, though his leg was broken.

Tracy Morgan and his friends and assistant were on their way back to New York City, where Morgan resides, from performing at a comedy club in Dover, Delaware. The wreck occurred on the New Jersey Turnpike, when the Walmart truck that Kevin Roper was driving allegedly swerved to avoid hitting slower traffic ahead of him, and instead, the truck smashed into the back of the limo bus, flipping it over and causing it to hit five other vehicles.

Shortly following the news of the terrible multi-vehicle accident, Tracy Morgan’s fans and many of his fellow entertainers sent him get well wishes and messages of support. One of the celebs who have tweeted was Adam Levine.

Also, in the middle of an interview with E! News, the actress who played Morgan’s wife on 30 Rock, Sherri Shepherd, said about him that she was “thinking about” him and she wished him “the quickest recovery.”

Georgia native Kevin Roper is employed by a Delaware branch of Walmart, and was driving for them at the time the accident occurred. Walmart has stated that if their truck was involved in the accident, and if their employee was found to be at fault, they would take full responsibility for the accident. However, they have also released a statement that the company doesn’t believe that their employee violated any Federal laws.

Kevin Roper was arrested, charged with one count of vehicular homicide and four counts of vehicular assault, and released on a $50,0000 bail. On Thursday, Roper pleaded not guilty to all charges, and the judge hearing the case did not increase his bail. Roper is free pending his trial.

The good news about the huge multi-vehicle wreck is that Tracy Morgan has had his condition upgraded to fair by the doctors at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, N.J., according to his rep, Lewis Kay, and that the condition of Morgan’s assistant, Jeff Millea, has also been upgraded to fair. Morgan is expected to remain in the hospital for several more weeks as he recovers.
