‘America’s Got Talent’ Third Best Audition: Dariel and Emil

America s Got Talent Dariel and Emil

NBC’s America’s Got Talent is known for the surprise act, and is one of the things that makes it such a joy to watch. It is the moment when an act has that look and feel of a certain way, then turns the tables and does something totally unexpected. That is what happened with brothers Dariel and Emil, and this is why they are the third best audition this season on America’s Got Talent.

The two brothers play the electric cellos. They were taught by their grandfather, who both admitted had been the only teacher that either had ever had. He had emigrated from Russia many years ago, and the cello became his means of survival as he played anywhere he could for money. The grandfather stood offstage with host Nick Cannon as his grandsons performed.

The two wore black pants and blue polo shirts and the act had the appearance of two brothers coming out to play some kind of classical tune. That was not to be the case at all. Dariel and Emil had something else in mind, and it was so cool that none of the four judges could contain their enthusiasm for the act. This is why brothers Dariel and Emil are in the top three best audition acts this season on America’s Got Talent.

A hush came over the crowd just before they began to play, and then it started. The two played Purple Haze by Jimi Hendrix. America’s Got Talent judge Howard Stern laughed immediately at how cool of a surprise this was. The cello players rocked it up in every way. They were head banging, had a little solo part reminiscent of Hendrix and one brother even broke some of the fibers on his bow as he played. It was an act that was the most hard rock moment America’s Got Talent has ever had, and it was all the more surprising because it was played on cellos.

When the act finished, the judges gave it a standing ovation. All four looked thoroughly entertained as the act went on, and it was clear that they could not wait to share their thoughts on the performance. Heidi Klum talked about how she expected them to “play something old school, something old-fashioned, and then, Wow.” Stern pointed out that the two did not look like Hendrix fans, and he said that the brothers had just become “the coolest guys on the block.”

The funniest part of the whole segment was when Howie Mandel talked about how the cello-playing brothers had turned something old into something new. He then said how he could see that kids would be in the corner at a party “playing air cello.” It was a very funny part that had everyone laughing.

Dariel and Emil had a surprising act that was great to watch and this is why they are the third best audition on America’s Got Talent this season. The two brothers brought a cool twist to a hard rock favorite, and it will be interesting to see how they step it up in the Vegas round.
